I have seen a lot of ideas concerning Cable lifters
My question: Assuming you believe cable lifters make a difference (and I do) what is the cause? Are they preventing transmission of floor borne vibration, eliminating electrical or magnetic interference from the floor/carpet or eliminating conduct... 
Which would you choose for good sounding tube preamp for an audiophile new to tubes.

Agree, let it run in. If that's not enough, try moving the speakers so they point more away from your ears to the outside. Toe them out, if you know what I mean. Tweeters can be very bright on axis but fall off more than other drivers as you move ...
