Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
Well put Ben...As I am new to Mcintosh with 501 mono's they continue to far exceed my expectations. I have about 100 hours on them, and they are the most natural sounding and organic amps I've heard.
Which Solid State Amplifier is Making you Happy?
I am thoroughly enjoying my Mac 501's, they are simply incredible at all levels and when cranked take my thiel 3.6's to a level I've only ready about! For the money you get a ton of power, real world bass, and see way into midrange. They do not so...
Why do no audio enthusiasts use McIntosh?
Szuntinglee's analysis of a Mac owner sounds like a "think tank" marketing summary based on singular opinions and taste rather than extensive research. No offense intended here either but In such a subjective hobby with close to an infinite number ...
McIntosh 501 or 602 for Magnepan 20.1
I own Mac 501's driving Thiel 3.6 and am very happy.
Which Conrad Johnson pre is a step-up from PFR?
Another vote for Premier 14, simply a great sounding preamp.
Thiel CS6 to Von Schweikert VR4 JR - Am i Crazy?
I'm sorry Jafox but I must still disagree, I have what you mentioned with my set-up. The 3.6 is reputed as one of the most nuetral and uncolored floor standing speaker, logic would suggest what goes in must come out - that has been the case for me...
Maryland,Wash.DC Metro area
I'm interested - live in Howard County area. Let me know. Thanks
Thiel CS6 to Von Schweikert VR4 JR - Am i Crazy?
hi bundy, just another opinion - I know you listen to mostly vinyl now so you might be buttoned up there, but to reiterate some posts above, your digital source is not going to get you where you want to be. I disagree with Jafox, I have Thiel 3.6's...
Cables for McIntosh Equipment
Vx700 - using the new MC501 monoblocks, driving Thiel 3.6. Preamp is CJ premier 14, digital front is Meridian 200/263. Using SR masters on the digital frontend, works very nicely, this old Meridian combo has a nice analog warmness to it with perfe...
Cables for McIntosh Equipment
MIT 350 shotgun EVO, 330 shotgun, and Magnum M2 speaker cables, very happy. How about aftermarket PC's? Currently using stock with MC501's. Tried SR master, did not like.
Cj experts: advice sought
Dave is right on, premier 14 should float your boat. I've had mine for years with no desire to change, you can also tube roll inexpensively with great results.
Need some juice --- High power amps
Mcintosh mc501 - mono's, 500 watts per side of muscle and musicality. It came down to these and the CJ 350 for me. Haven't heard the others on your list. These boys woke my up thiels!
DNA 500, MC 501s or JC-1$3-$5k on an ex-demo amp
All 3 excellent choices, monoblocks are the way to go IMO for utlimate seperation and power. I have a Mc 501 so I'll advise on that only, read the reviews they are fairly right on, plus the mc sounds good right out of the box. I have about 150 hou...
What about a product can irritate you?
IEC's - aftermarket power cords never fit tight so you wonder when is one of these monsters going to fall out while jammin and send a tweeter across the room.
Do Kimber KCAG's sound bright????
They might not be the best fit for your comp. I had kcag and kctg, even with tubes in the pre they could get fatiguing at times. Why not try to mix some copper in like Cardas upstream.
