has anybody heard Martinlogan w/ MIT?
The MIT's are imaging/soundstaging champs especially in a 3D sense. Give them so playing time to open up and give yourself some time to acclimate and I'm betting it will help your cause.
Unipivots Hadcocks Vs Grahams
Pretty much, VTF, overhang, and Azmuith is a breeze. VTA is adjusted by a grub screw which is easy, but if you adjust VTA frequently then it might not be your cup of tea. For me, the arm has just enough tweaking options.
Unipivots Hadcocks Vs Grahams
Fellows, the Hadcock is not that difficult to set up....believe me If I can do it anyone can. Took a couple of hours and well worth the effort.
Wilson Sophia II vs. Thiel CS3.7
Good point Unsound and as I mentioned I have heard them and they are very good but 12K for that performance is a little sporty.
Wilson Sophia II vs. Thiel CS3.7
Wilson's I can't help you with but Thiel I can. I have owned 3.6's for about 9 years. I have heard the 3.7 at a dealer several times, they are outstanding. Last time I heard them I had my checkbook ready to pull the trigger. But 2 things stopped m...
Cable suggestions requested
I've got to agree with the others and MIT. I use 350 reference and 350 EVO IC's and 750SG and have used many other models of MIT. I also have tried and OWN tons of cables.....stay tuned for a fire sale. There just isn't a cable I have tried that c...
Hadcock tonearms on a Technics SL1210
Hi Dsa, just curious where you found poor workmanship issues with Hadcocks. I just bought and installed a 228 on my Basis table and the workmanship on my arm is very high quality with high quality parts. They are hand assembled so there could be v...
Unipivots Hadcocks Vs Grahams
The only advice I can give is I recently moved from a Rega 300 to a Hadcock 228 with an ortofon jubilee and am very happy. The hadcock was a significant improvement!
Power conditioner or not?
I do not use one, my system sounds more natural and organic directly in the wall but I do have dedicated 20 amp lines and they did make a big difference.
Rega RB300 Troubleshooting
Hitman, have you weighed the tonearm/cartridge with a VTF guage? I'm guessing it's at 3 grams or higher but its a start. You already know this but it sounds like its critical to get the mechanical VTF on the arm dialed back. Why won't the screw go...
McIntosh Amp Ratings
My 501's drive a very difficult load in Thiel 3.6, low impendance factor but fairly stable curve, with no problem in a room probably too large for the speakers. They never run out of gas, fill the room with music and I usually crank them!
How to evaluate amps that are not broken in?
Audiofeil is right on in my experience! Acclimation of the human ear and mood are my 2 most important break-in variables. I have never seen/heard in my 35+ years in the hobby a component of mine change significantly enough to really make a strong ...
Led Zeppelin IV vinyl
Original Physical Graffiti sounds excellent, as does II, the classic reissue III also sounds very good, HOH is OK but the original IV does not sound good....it's rough.....but ya gotta have it!
McIntosh MC402 Burn in Period ? Very Impressed
My 501's sounded great right out of the box, they got did get slightly more refined/smooth sounding after 50 or so hours. They also sound a little more refined when warmed up for several hours.
Do enzymes only live for 8 hours
I'm still brushing my teeth with AIVS....they're whiter than ever!
