Are Bang and Olufsen turntables any good?
I have a Beogram RX2 and just pulled the MMC2 cartridge out and bought adapter for standard mount.I don't like the cueing and the way the arm works on that table at all.I have several Dual 1200's and a Rotel I'd like mount the MMC2 on.I'm not dism...
Re-manufacturing of 45 singles
Are they going to be 12inch or 7 inch singles?I like 45 rpm sound, want to dedicate a table to play just 7 inch.I still have my Beatles 45's from 1965.I really like 12 inch 45 sound, wish I had collected more years ago.The 12 inchers I feel safer pl...
Poor sounding analog?
I find that surprising.Even my generation back planer3 with upgrades consistently sounds better than the same CD reissue recordings and sacd on one.I hand clean my LP's with the mofi brushes and microfiber towels, sure there's better at a lot more ...
Hot Rats
Great album.I still have mine I bought when it first came out and my original Uncle Meat.I was captivated by it over 40 years ago and still am whenever I listen to it.Uncle Meat,Burnt Weenie Sandwich and Hot Rats my all time Zappa classic favorite...
Zappa's Uncle Meat vs. Uncle Meat.
I have many LP copies of Uncle Meat including my original one I bought in the 1960's.Blue label bizzares sound better than the later released brown reprises to me on my system.King Kong, one of my favorites on Bizzare or my Promo is why I stay in v...
Remember the year and first vynil you ever bought?
Beatles 45's 1965,still have them and they play.Still have mint condition LP's I bought in late 60's.I had a friends Dr John LP for 40 years with moves across country it sat here till I mailed it back to him last year, what a surprise for him.
Oppo DV-981HD for $50 for 2ch?
I bought the first 970,very reliable and responds well to vibration control under and on top of tray.I used feet from audio advisor under and 3 vibrapods with brass weight on top in cd tray for better overall sound. Can't beat the price.
can record skips be fixed?
I have fixed an LP skip like Minkwelder using high tonearm weight on old dual TT and expendable cartridge playing just that skip point a few times to regroove it.It worked. When I was a child I used to tape pennies and nickels on the tone arm to st...
Best Acoustic Guitar Players Of All Time?
I saw Segovia live once. It's hard to imagine a better player than him.If not #1 he should be in top 3 or 5 of all time.Chet Atkins is a really clean player also.
Anyone using Goldring Carts?
I ran 2 goldrings 10 years ago,now have a 1042 on my economy rack upstairs. They had excellent bass but they just didn't hold my attention so I moved on.
Paradigm studio 20 vs 60? Help please
I bought the 60V5's when they first came out. They need about 80 hours breakin.I've been quite happy with them.I made my own stands to get the tweeters at ear level.Yes they do look great don't they? And the low end bass detail is nice. After about a...
Most meaningful record show find of 2012
I picked off a 1A Village Stompers off the dollar rack in mint cond.Just yesterday stereo Dick Dale Checkered Flag for $25.and Frankie Goes to Hollywood Relax 45rpm for a buck at the local shop. The shows moved too far away and I got tired of deale...
Choosing between Reissue and Original pressings
I'm surprised that some original LP's from 40 to 50 years ago sell so cheaply for their rarity.IMO this is last chance gas to hear the best sound quality of some of them.As a consumer and audiophile I would rather pay the price for a company to co...
Choosing between Reissue and Original pressings
I agree with Viridian about 40 to 50 year old tape loss, music I listen to.I stopped buying reissues years ago. There are so few exceptions it's not worth wasting the money to find out for me anymore.I got tired of wasting 25-30 bucks for an LP and ...
