Vintage vinyl or new reissues? I second the notion that the 45s add a whole other element into the equation. All the ones I own are astounding if not always mastered to me liking.
Best bang for the buck turntable? I think the digital/anologue debate is obviously based on personal priorities the lot of which are complex. IME there are qualities to both that are appealing even at the lower eschelons of both. My own preference is analogue at even a modest pric...
Best bang for the buck turntable? Kinda like the one about the (insert ethnic persuasion of choice) folk musician. He was in it for the money.
Looking for turntable for under $1000 Bob,I'm curious about your take on P3/Project comparison.
Best bang for the buck turntable? Sadly, very well articulated. True quality is always an elusively moving target. At the top of my game? No. Just aspiring as always. Thanks for the encouragement.
Basis Debut Mk v or Walker or Brinkman ? You may be doing yourself a disservice by not trying an alternative given an easy opportunity. I know Lloyd does not like the Bybee and Transparant products after having tried them. As you know, much of this is a matter of taste and system balance...
Basis Debut Mk v or Walker or Brinkman ? Strapper,be sure to check out Lloyd's other products when you get your table, particularly the Reference High Definition Links, Velocitor and Mapleshade/inSound cables. You may be getting rid of the Bybees, and Transarants if and when you do. Have...
Best bang for the buck turntable? Viridian, Thanks. Although the conflict of interest can certainly insinuate itself, generally dealers, distributors and manufacturers of high end audio equipment are in business because they are passionate about recreating the magic of perhaps the...
Best bang for the buck turntable? The new improved version of the Rega P 3 is about a month or so away from shipping. It will include th option of adding the same outboard power supply that is available as an option for the P5, a significant upgrade. The price will increase but wi...
New Maplenoll Ariadne owner needing advice Oilman, unfortunately, it's been so long since I've done without the oil trough I couldn't tell you too specifically. The VTF issue has to do with the fact that the oil will "float" the arm a bit and must be compensated for. The best way to do thi...
New Maplenoll Ariadne owner needing advice Crem,I posted new pics on my system site including a close up of the motor mount.
New Maplenoll Ariadne owner needing advice Oilman, I think you'll find a PSI of twice what you're using will work much better.Just to clarify, re: Lloyd's letter, the signature arm that I have has a solid aluminum machined VTA bracket rather than the folded one pictured, the counterweight ...
New Maplenoll Ariadne owner needing advice I use Acrotec 46ga 6N, single strand per leg. It's a pain to deal with without breaking, and soldering can be tricky, but it's worth it. If you sand the ends with 600 grit gently before soldering you'll have better luck. Michael Percy sells it.
New Maplenoll Ariadne owner needing advice been outa town. no tape, tried to true it up and left some marks. I'll get you some pics within the next couple days. still workin on the screws. found the motor was fine when mounted properly.
Top turntables? Walker if you have the money or used Maplenoll Signature Ariadne if on a budget. |
