| Different sound from inputs 1 and 2 on preamp I've noticed it...on my Counterpoint SA-5000 the tape 1 input has one less switch in the path than the CD, tuner, etc. On other preamps I assumed it was because I used channel 1 often and burned it in, but didn't often use the others. | |

| sample rate conversion quality issues Yeah, what Paul said. There are some people who think it's better to record at 44.1 (if that is the final destination) and skip the conversion. I haven't compared the two. You might want to try both and see if you hear a difference. | |

| Is Sennheiser 600/650 an overkill ? If you want ultimate resolution you wouldn't be listening to MP3s. I'd go with Hepl's advice. The 600 / amp combo will just reveal flaws in the source. There are also good models from Grado, Beyer, etc. | |
