Class D amps seem poised to take over. Then what? Class D amps have gotten better without doubt. They are performing on a level never thought achievable. But as good as they are in providing great transparency, detail, full midrange (vocals) and deep mind-blowing bass they still fall short in del...
I had a few drinks and bought some speakers, I've now sobered up Welcome to the speaker game. Since speakers are a huge investment I would want to hear them first before purchasing unless the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. I would be more inclined to have a few drinks after a negative purchase.
Low power amps and speaker damage? Do neither, don't over-power them or under-power your speakers especially if you are going demand higher listening levels. Match the amp to the speakers and they are going to sound their best. You don' want to put a 200 watt per channel amp on spe...
Is D for Dry? Class D... Just like Class A or Class AB, some sound fabulous and some sound mediocre at best, same applies to Class D. The one thing I like about Class D amps they are very sensitive to slightest cable changes (poer and signal and that could be compared to ...
Class D amps that are superior to all or most? I just want to mention one other note on the Edge A2-300 Class D amp. It uses the exact same Ice Modules that Jeff Roland uses in his latest Class D amps and the Edge A2-300 puts out a potent 150 watts per channel in to 8 ohms and it is bridgeable...
Samsung flat screen TV’s There is a good reason they killed off the Plasma TVs. Reason one, they generally last longer. Reason two, the picture is more natural and easier on your eyes. The LED TVs are way too bright and it has been proven that that form of light emitted f...
Holographic Soundstage ? Keep your Krell amp and add a nice VTL tube preamp, you'll have all the holographic sound one could ask for.
Class D amps that are superior to all or most? What if I told you there is a Class D amp that retails for $500.00 (made in Sweden), includes shipping and sounds every bit as good as Class D amps that sell for up to $2,500? Well such an amp exists, the Edge A2-300. Some have referred to it as ...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else While it is true that tubes sound good with Klipsch, so does many solid state amps as well. Midfi, the slightly.warm sound of B&K does the trick, Higher end SS Conrad Johnson solid state sounds delicious. Mcormack amps nice! Don't use the High...
Why would anyone want class AB amp when class A always sounds better ? You're not going to operate Class A on solar panels and it is the opposite of going green. What it can be when properly designed is a fabulous sound that's very involving, Hey folks all Class A aren't created equal, just like Class D or Class AB f...
How loud are you typically listening? Some systems don't come alive till they are turned up. I find that my other system which has a Class D amp begs to be turned down, in fact it sounds good at all levels. I prefer low to mid volume levels in general.
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else mikem, I thought I was the only one that was called an audiophool. I guess thats the way we all start off.
Can't believe I let myself get sucked in again. The reason I don't have any problems is because I don't quit anything. You might as well come home because there is nothing out there for you or any of us audiophiles that can ultimately satisfy. Just be sensible about things and you will be fine. ...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else That's why we have an game because very seldom does one amp fits all. I wanted a Krell amp really bad but when I called Krell they said they would love to sell me one of their amps but with my horn-loaded speakers, it would be the kiss of death.
Are your current amps and other gear the best you've ever had? I promise this time I will keep what I have and be satisfied. |
