Brit singers late 80s-90s....roses, mondays, etc.. As David Byrne once said "i dont trust singers that hit every note"...but as I was perusing youtube and walking down memory lane as I went to school in the UK in the early 90s...man I must have been on a ton of drugs to listen to this stuff live.....
Brit singers late 80s-90s....roses, mondays, etc.. Not asking for Pavarotti...just solid in tune vocals...when the vocals are so bad they interfere with the music there is a problem...at least Liam from Oasis can carry a tune ha! FOrgot one...BObby G from Primal Scream...appalling voice...I assume...
Pioneer House Sound from the 70s Mmmmn...the cambridge would be more of a modern sound...the old Pioneer stuff has a romantic, slightly "fuzzy" sound...everything sounds good enough...but everything sounds the same...which is good if you enjoy less than audiophile recordings...it...
Best sounding Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" dont bother with the SHM releases....they are smoke and mirrors...the original lp is great...as is the cd reissue that came out in late 90s...both are available very cheaply....
any early 80's alt/soft punk fans out there? The CHills, Saints, CLean, CHurch...anything on flying nun....and Mushroom....
upgrade from Paradigm Studio 20s? Songtowers not a bad choice...still think if u are seeking a change make it a big one...planars, stats, etc...probably a nice speaker...but again...not a huge upgrade in performance from what u currently own....just my .02....
upgrade from Paradigm Studio 20s? All good advice...but for 2k i dont think you are going to make a quantum leap in performance unless you are willing to go with a large Magnepan,3-way Vandersteen, etc...both poor WAF...u could add a sub...but 90% of music is in the midrange...and...

budget speakers Most definitely no...entry level Paradigm offerings such as atom and titan are extremely rolled off...dont know if this is purposely to entice one to try their better monitor or studio series...at any rate...try athena as bi budget speaker...great...
Five spkr choices Your pick? Of your choices...I have heard only the Monitor Audios...and although they are a good speaker...they dont really create any sonic "magic"...their imaging, soundstaging, and transparency have been surpassed at their price point since they were intr...
I love my little Quad 9Ls;will I like bigger ones? GMA Europas...excellent speaker in terms of audiophile imaging, soundstaging, transparency, etc and truly amazing on vocals...I found them to be a bit bass shy...to be fair this was in a 20 x 20 room...and the bass they did produce was of average ...
I love my little Quad 9Ls;will I like bigger ones? I had the 12Ls...and for a monitor...they have very clean, deep articulated bass...some of the best Ive heard...further up the chain the midrange doesnt possess the 3d realism of some higher end speakers(GMA, VANDY)...and the tweeter can be a bit ...
Athena F2s... I understand the F2s could be a polarizing discussion...but Stereophile...for what its worth...did place them on their recommended list years ago...ironically...the actual article gives the impression of a rating higher than class d...and states t...

almost great lps.....70s=80s bingo...the side 2 curse was fully evident during the late 70s-early 80s...especially when AOR format took hold...a few great songs(side 1)...a bunch of filler (side 2)...oh well...i was on too many drugs to notice at the time...ha ha... |
