what is the best, least costly DAC...?
Once again...this is a highly subjective hobbie...and I have always found Rega CDPs to be kind of "grey" and void of colour...the polar opposite of their turntables in terms of PRAT, etc...in a nutshell...dull and boring!...cant comment on the v-d...

Dual CS5000 vs. Pioneer PL-530
That Pioneer was quite the advanced machine in its day...but appears to be extremely complex which doesnt bode well years later...KISS always applies...dont know much about the DUal...but it appears to be an average performer...much better or soug... 
Amateur changing a Rega P1 cartridge
to be honest...at first this is a royal pain in the a@@...but does become easier over time...it does seem like you have to be a swiss watchmaker at times to perform these changes...note:when removing old cart be sure to grasp connecting sleeve on ...

It all depends how much enjoyment...or conversation piece equipment one wants to own...but truth be told...it is kind of a misnomer that you have to spend thousands to fully understand vinyl...similiar to Mac computers...there are those that must ... 
HK t-60.....
the t 45 does indeed have the feet adjustable-suspension platter...or at least the one i have does...it is a bit more "wobbly" than I am used to for a turntable....I assume to absorb unwanted vibrations...but is fairly stable with the disc stabili...

At a much lower cost is going with a used table to begin with...I had a project expression 4-5 yrs back...and although it sounded good...the lack of any real suspension caused the table to skip when one was in the same are code...that bad...and th... 
HK t-60.....
Service was somewhat basic...they didnt take it apart...put on new belt and cart with adjustments with no labour costs...so far no speed issues....look out for t65...any other sleeper tables from 80s to look for? Technics linear trackers?

Well had it serviced at a local shop...speed is dead on...auto-lift operates as it should...replaced belt and upgraded cartridge...if I come across a t-60 in my local area i would jump on it...but for the moment settled on the t45 which i acquired...
