An Intergrated Class D Amp with Tube Pre-section would be a good idea??
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
The brand image is still going strong, a buddy of mine either has his ears full of wax or is brainwashed deep down to his subconsciousness. He believes it's still super high end.

I think Ralph will be working on bigger Amplifiers in the Class D Domain at a later stage. Remember this is not using anyone else module but he designed it from ground up.
Atma-Sphere vs. Supratek
Atma-Sphere is in the USA, their are few Dealers whom you can borrow the unit from and have a home demo.   I own the MP-1 and MP-3 both with Phono Stages. Not heard the Supratek so cant comment on that,.
What makes the biggest difference in sound quality?
Room and Speakers obviously, however the Pre-Amp is the heart of your system which can really make or break it.
Audiogon is becoming the hub for scammers.
many genuine sellers and buyers here too. Scammers exist on all platform.

With my Experience CD or DSD Physical media usually sounds better than its equivalent of the same song being streamed

The Playback Design DAC should be high on your list. The New MPD-6 Lower priced Model from Playback Desaign soon to be released is another option too.
Tiny Room (6' x 9') speaker advice
I would suggest the smaller Cube Audio Speakers. Single Drivers are less problematic in this situation.
Devore or Audio Note or other sensitive speakers: wanting to listen in Denver
What you really want is a high sensitivity speaker with 16 ohms and of course Field Coils if you can raise the budget higher.   I use Atma-Sphere OTL Amplifiers called the Nirvana, these are not posted on Atma-Sphere sites but can be custom buil...
Affordable vs. ultra expensive speakers - what's the difference?
Whats affordable for you may be cheapy stuff for someone who earns allot more. whats affordable for that guy maybe too expensive for you.   Regards, I would still say focus on a Good Room first as this will make allot of the diffrence.

Line Magnetic comes to mind if your budget is on the lower end of the scale, otherwise the Classic Audio Loudspeakers (Field Coil) Versions are highly recommended.
Why People Like Tekton
Quested Studio Range Speakers to my ears sound well balanced warm, musical yet they can deliver all the details in a relaxed manner i find them ultra low fatique for a Studio Speaker and can outclass many high end audio speakers for the same money...
