"I haven’t heard his speakers”Mcanaday - Beg your pardon ma’am; I shoudn’t have assumed.
Upgrade my amp again
Point taken Bob, and thanks for stepping in Al. I’ll be the first to admit that technically speaking, I have a lot to learn. I hear what I hear but I don’t always know why I’m hearing it. I would actually like to be wrong on this issue because I'v...
Upgrade my amp again
Hi Bob, I’m no scientist but I have no doubt that you and Dr. Toole are correct about energizing room modes. That said, I don’t believe that’s the only element to consider when trying to choose the right size speaker for a room. I say that because...
Am I an Audiophile?
""What's the difference between a Harley and a Hoover"???..." Isochronisn - LOL, Never heard that one before; awesome!"... I'm ashamed to admit to even you guys,(I have destroyed equipment).”Csontos - Thanks a load for reminding me - I can alrea...
Am I an Audiophile?
Taking a page from the biker community where, regardless of what you ride, you’re a biker if and only if you put miles on your bike and it’s your primary transportation; I’d like to submit that you’re an audiophile if reproduced music is a sig...
Upgrade my amp again
Mcanaday - My suggestion regarding the amplifier was specific to your speaker and your issues with the soft bottom end. IMO, an amplifier that has the ability to double the amperage when a speaker’s impedance halves at some frequency is desirable....
upgrade my amp?
I agree with you, that an amplifier upgrade is appropriate. After reading some reviews and taking a brief look at your speaker’s specs, any amplifier you choose should have a good 4 ohm rating. What that means is that if your amp delivers 40 watts...
Best System displayed on Audiogon
Yeah, well... Mr. CuongPham is just a lucky duck that I’m too modest to display my system :-)
What should I do
Yup... what those guys said.
New to classical..looking for recommendations
I second Lowrider 57’s “Amazon" suggestion. It’s a terrific source that allows you to audition before buying and provides you with the option to buy new or used from a variety of customer rated sellers. Begin with a search of the "Living Stereo” c...

Wolf - LOL. Now that I think about it, wasn’t there some sleazebag dealer in New York who used to have strippers hostessing in his joint? He used the girls in his ads too.

A parallel:During my (mis)guided youth, there was no place in the world that I rather be than a nudie bar. Eventually, if a guy puts in enough time into these places, he gets a pretty good feel for the business. I came to to understand what appear...
Has anyone heard of Volti Audio?
"What tonality and presence”You said it Pops! I heard them at a show too. Even though the audition was much too brief, if I had the room, they might very well be the end of the road. Maril555, I heard the two-piece design too. While I wasn’t put o...
If you solicit offers, shouldn't you respond?
Good manners is always a good idea. But it’s a bad idea to let people without them to ruin your day.

"My local tire shop does a better job of reaching out to potential clients.”Yeah... mine too Wolf. The vast number of neglected opportunities is mind boggling. One small part of a very large image problem is that dealers don't really want to be bo...
