Original Packaging, you gotta have it.
They are also great when you have to move. The downside though is all the space they take up. I have almost two full closets in audio boxes.
Your System vs. Live Music, or how close to live..
At the chance of getting beat up for this I have to say that I dont build my system to sound like live music. I build it to sound as good as possible to me. Some live concert qualities amaze me and I would give anything for my system to sound like...

If I remember correctly the reason I was told bi-wire sounds better is that when the drivers travel in the oppositte direction that they send a little interference back into the other driver. The extra length helps dissipates this interference. I ...
Quick ways to determine optimum positioning
I will just add a little to the excellent advice above. I agree with not pointing the speakers directly at you but I would try turning them to the point where they almost point at you. I find this best for my set up.Also take the time and aggravat...
To turn off or not to turn off
I think the longer you leave your equipment on the better it sounds. I use to leave my equipment on all the time but not only did my electric bill go through the roof but my room heats up to much from my amps.

Is my dealer lying to me?
Speakers will effect the signature of the sound more then any other piece. Its a good idea to start with speakers and then try different cd players with the new speakers.

Is my dealer lying to me?
There are a few arguments going here but what you have to remember at all times is that it is your ears and your money. Who cares what we think. Who cares what the dealer thinks. Who cares what the specs say or a reveiw magazine says. Opinions rea...
need amp advice
The pre amp is more important then the amplifier and actually amplifies the signal more percentage wise then the amplifier. I would start with a good preamp.
Is my dealer lying to me?
I personally feel you get what you pay for. Regardless of brand. That said you should always trust your ears. You heard it with a pair of speakers you are planing on upgrading to and you liked it compared to the cost/sound of the other more expens...
