Anyone read the recent Stereophile article on cables? Cant you test impedence with a simple voltage meter? I thought there was a specific setting just for that. You then touch each end with the two cables and it tells you the impedence.
CLASSE - Great amps or highly flawed? I love Classe amps and run dual Ca-400's. I find them very fast with a lot of punch, extremely Transparent, image very well, and I wouldnt call them colored. They are rolled off quite a bit and very dark but I consider this a quality not a draw back.
Making cables pretty Why not pull the carpet up and run them under it along the edge. You will get a slight bulge but visually it will blend better then anything else.
Is Genesis out of business? I had a problem with one of their products and they never returned my emails or phone calls. Be very wary of a company that ignores their customers. They may make a great product but if you have ever needed to get something fixed you understand th...
Has anyone used a full-system battery power supply? They make battery systems for this purpose. The can be plugged into the wall and charged and last several hours. I saw one once at my local hi fi dealer but I have no idea who made it
Making cables pretty There are corner sleeves that go over the cable in the corner going up your wall that you paint to match your walls. I think you could find them at any store like Home Depot
Listener fatigue This is a severly underated quality. Classe, Sonus Faber, and MIT give me that refined soft on the ears sound. I think brightness is the number one cause for listener fatigue.
Cable options for Sonus Faber EA II speakers? Great Speaker. I have a pair of Extremas. I highly recommend putting MIT on that list. I find that they are a great match with Sonus Faber.
what speakers do the best "disappearing act"?? I have a pair of Sonus Faber Extremas and are as transparent as they come. I know I will get told I am nuts for this but properly set up they will actually image behind you at times.
Excellent Component Direct or I cant really answer your question but I have the faroudga that I run to a Marantz rear projection tv through a S video cable. The picture is astonishing. The faroudga is also so good with audio that I decided to stay with two channel home theater...
How to Listen ?? A lot of good advice here but just rememebr to trust your own ears. Get what ever you think sounds best. Dont get lost in the reveiws, gimics, specifications, opinions of others, or even the price tag. Also know that your opinion will probably cha...
Sealed, 1st apple /James Taylor, JT album I think that you should enjoy it. What good is something you will never use. You are into music for the love of music so use it for what it is. Its like buying a nice car and always keeping it in the garage. The fact it has never been opened makes...
what do you think about SONY's XBR direct view TVs? Two years ago I had a 32" XBR television that I paid $1600.00 for. It was the finest picture I have seen and even with all the new technology I think it would easily compete today. Unfortunatly they have lousy warrenties and after only two years t...
Bryston or Classe audio ? what do you think of both? I love Classe but I have never heard Bryston. Classe has the best customer service I have ever seen. I lost a remote while moving which they replaced for free and fixed a dac for me that I bought used. Not only did they fix it for free even though...
Balanced or Unbalanced? I own Classe and I asked them what thier product was best designed for and they told me to go balanced. I have found that it is a signifacant difference and you although there would be advantages to running all balanced it isnt necessary. |
