No bass in the Proac Response 3
Wayneke- I know it's been a few years since this post ran, but I need a set of surrounds for the Scanspeak woofers in my Proac Response 3 speakers. Do you recall who might have a supply of these surrounds, or a number I can call to get more info?T...
any info on repair of an ead t7000 transport?
The T-7000 is a Pioneer 9** series CD/LD/DVD player inside...apparently with very vew critical mods. I'm not absolutely certain which Pioneer DVD model is used for the T-7000 innards, but I've seen it discussed on a Laser Disc forum on the interne...
Thiel 3.6's vs. Vandersteen 3 sigs
Thanks to Pubul57 for the great advice!Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Best wishes for a great audio New Year!
Thiel 3.6's vs. Vandersteen 3 sigs
Apparently I hit a "raw chord" with Chadnliz (how cute) about Vandersteens..and even though I mis-spelled sophisticated in my post, I stand by my judgement of Vandertsteen speakers...of which I've owned a few pairs. Chadnliz has graced us with his...
"Great RCA interconnects under $100?"
Promotion plays a large part in most audio related purchases...probably no where more prevalent than in the spin magic associated with interconnects and power cords. If it costs more, it's better, and if it costs a LOT more it's a LOT better. Obvio...
Best single-malt Scotch...
Bruichladdich 18, Lagavulin 16, The Macallan 18, Glenmorangie 21, Highland Park 21, Springbank 18, Bowmore special reserve 25....and on and on. I gotta admit, there's something to love in any quality single malt over 15 years old....I even like La...
Thiel 3.6's vs. Vandersteen 3 sigs
No Thiels are not analytical, or harsh, or forward sounding. The reason they sound that way when you heard them is because the components driving them were low fi. If you use high quality components with good cables and follow placement recommenda...
Which frieght company to use to move a 200 pound amp?
BAX GLOBAL every time. They are simply the most reliable and they never damage a thing. I believe it's because they palletize all shipments and they fly the goods rather than loading and unloading them onto one truck after another. The item you ar...
Thiel 3.6 vs. Dunlavy SC-IV/A
Yes, the model 39 cd player from Levinson is the one I was referring to.... or better yet (money wise) the Proceed cdp which is based on the No.39 (transport etc). Also if you want to shock yourself try the model 500 special edition Cambridge cd p...
Thiel 3.6 vs. Dunlavy SC-IV/A
Keep the 3.6's and upgrade your pre-amp, cd player, and possibly your cables. Also look into adding Sound Anchor stands. They make an amazing difference in bass response and mid-range smoothness on all Thiels. I recommend upper level Tara Labs cab...

9B-ST for Home Theater Amp
I have to agree with those of you who support Bryston amps I have had a lot of experience with a number of mega $ amps, like Krell (hard and shrill), Levinson (sublime but buckish), Aragon, Classe, Audio Research, etc blah blah, and none of them o...
My 4B-ST runs Hot
Argent, I have used Bryston 48's and 7b's for years with low impedence Magneplanars, Thiels, and Apogees and have never experienced any excessive heat problems. I will say that the Brystons run hotter with Apogee Caliper signatures than with the T...
Best Hybrid Amps. Tube Solid state amp
I agree whole heartedly with Usblues101. Get a used Counterpoint sa-20 or 220 and try it like it is. Try using new tubes (Svetlana or Mullard or any NOS original tubes) to tailor it's sound to your tastes, and I bet you will find performance that ...
