Coincident Linestage vs CJ CT5 or Allnic L-3000 early on coincident amps were made by antique sound labs. love to try the franks someday. Charles you need to try Izzy's Extreme cables

Who makes the highest quality tube amps? having already owned ARC, Cary & Rogue tube amps my pick is Music Reference - period both for bulletproof reliability, tube longevity, low power consumption, ie heat generated & most importantly sound.
How Important is power conditioning if you have imo depends on your location & whether you're in an apartment/condo/multi-unit dwelling or detached single family home.
Older Cary 306/200 vrs a recent used Cary CD500? when using a preamp make sure you have the analog volume control all the way up via the remote. I think it's going to blow away what you're used to - let us know how you like it:)
Tubes going bad??? all great points above. I'll add when the gettering or the silver inside the top (or in some cases bottom as in some 6sn7) of the tube is almost all used up, ie turning black or dark it's time to think about new tubes.
Older Cary 306/200 vrs a recent used Cary CD500? thanks, I really like them both but never had a chance to compare the two side by side. I bought the 303/300 after owning a couple other units in between. Both have really good analog volume controls w/3volt output thru the rca's (more thru the xl...
Older Cary 306/200 vrs a recent used Cary CD500? one thing that always bothered me about the 306/200's remote is it's rather cumbersome & built like a lead brick versus the cd500 which is a nice light modern plastic unit. accidentally dropping or knocking the remote of the 306/200 off a tabl...
Older Cary 306/200 vrs a recent used Cary CD500? don't overlook the 303/300 esp. at used prices. I owned the 306/200 for a long time & have enjoyed the 303/300 several years now. btw, I always run it in solid state mode.
Cost of running a tube amp. interesting Art. That's alotta cheap entertainment for the sli-80. I've often wondered about factory published specs of power consumption as the sli-80 i owned for 5 yrs. stated around 65 watts at idle - is that correct? The Pass X250 I owned year...
Ed Cassidy of Spirit is dead one of my childhood favs..."mr skin we know where you've been"...see ya on the other side ED, RIP
Any Mark Knopfler Fans Out There? I'm really enjoying 'privateering' after a couple listens. At 1st it didn't do much. Nice system Bama- I used to have a X250 paired w/ML SL3's years ago.
Best amp for Meadowlark Blue Herons? never heard Meadowlark speakrs but always wanted to - but remember reading that Pat McGinty always kept a Music Reference RM200 around his shop & thought highly of it - that is if you don't mind going tubes - it'll create what you're looking f...
Congestion, clarity problems gone: M.R. RM-9 nice choice Jim, congrats. My only suggestion on your continued enjoyment of the amp would be buy your replacement tubes from RAM Labs/Roger - saves alot of aggravation & you'll always enjoy great sound for many years to come. cheers & enjoy!
Anyone heard Cary 303/300 after 400 hours burn-in? Worked fine & sounds great since I bought it new a couple years ago. I prefer the SS section to the tube in my setup running direct into the amp. I've even tried the recommended NOS Radiotechniques tubes. Upsampling off all the time. The 3V ou... |
