Conrad johson versus lamm When I owned C4's I battled listener fatigue. If you don''t already have room treatments, it would be a good investment if you plan on keeping your C4's.
Conrad johson versus lamm I found the CJ Prem 140 to be very solid state sounding and I never could connect with it. You will need more power to effectively drive C4's with tubes. I'd consider a good solid state amp or a better and more powerful tube amp.
To Preamp Or Not To Preamp Vac 30/30 MkII Great amp.... I loved my time with it and regret having sold it. I had the MkIII version and preferred it with a preamp. I used an Aesthetix Calypso (non signature version) with NOS tubes. The two made a great combo. The Calypso can be found used ...
Yo-Yo Ma Plays Ennio Morricone SACD I have the redbook version. It's a keeper.
Classe ssp 25 & Classe ca-150 vs. Nu Vista M3 I owned the Nu Vista M3 for a short time and was very disappointed in the sound quality. I quickly sold it for a loss. Never again will I own MF gear. Same goes for Simaudio.
Simaudio Moon w5.3se I bought a pair of Simaudio W-6 monoblocks to drive Dynaudio C-4's. I was very disappointed in them... cheap construction and mediocre sound. I sold them after a week of audition. I would never buy Simaudio gear again. Musical Fidelity is in the s...
Is KAV 300i adequate for Sonus Faber Elipsa? Yes... more than "adequate" from a power standpoint, but kind of like putting a Chevy V6 into a BMW 5 series. Quality speakers will do best with high quality amplification.
harbeth p3ers or dynaudio excite x12 I've owned 5 pairs of Dynaudio speakers from the entry level Audience line to the Confidence line. I've only owned one pair of Harbeth's and can tell you with confidence that Harbeth would be the best choice for you and your choice of music.
Moving from Dynaudio Confidence 3? I've owned many pairs on Dyn speakers over the last decade, all of the way up to the C4's. IME, it's difficult to find a speaker that excels in every music genre, so if you have not already done so, consider trying a higher powered tube amp or tub...
Why do Harbeth speakers have such a cult following Ditto Bobheinatz & Briangrarcom.
Speaker choice: impedance, sensitivity, and tubes I've driven the Harbeth M-40.1's with as little as 30 tube watts with reasonable success. IME, "watts" are over-rated.
Audio Aero Capitole CDP problem Thank you Peter.
Partnering Equipment for Pass Labs XA60.5 I can speak from experience on both the Harbeth M-40.1's and the Aesthetix Calypso preamp. The Harbeth M-40.1's have a very flat impedance curve and are 6 ohm nominal... so your PASS amps would be more than powerful enough for them. I've driven the...
Affordable SS amp that has tube characteristics Plinius SA-102 or SA-250. Both have a toggle switch so you can choose to run in Class A or A/B. I left mine on 24/7 in class A/B, then flipped the toggle to class A when I wanted to listen to music.
Starting from Scratch -Please Help Pick 1 out of 3 Group 1... VAC with Harbeth. |
