need your help on this one..... Soix... yes, I left my Plinius on 24/7 and toggled over to the more energy efficient class AB when not listening, then back over to class A for listening sessions. I think most ss amps and ss audio equipment in general sounds best when left on 24/7.
Verity speakers opinions/experience? I've never heard them, but the Parsifal Encore's have always been on my Mount Rushmore of speakers I wanted to own. Verity has a strong reputation and Agon members who's opinions I respect & trust speak highly of them.
Diana Krall It's all a matter of personal taste. I have two Nina Simone CD's but prefer DK by a wide margin. There is no wrong or right when it comes to personal preferences. My Dad loved Perry Como and the Lawrence Welk show, whereas I like DK and The Da...
need your help on this one..... I agree with poster "seasoned" that Plinius have to be left on all of the time to sound their best. Plinius SA 102 was the best ss amp I've owned, but I'm a tube guy and my exposure to ss amps is limited.Based upon feedback from others on this ch...
need your help on this one..... Watts are over-rated in my opinion, unless you have an extremely large room, highly inefficient speakers and like to play LOUD. Current, quality of parts, design and build quality should play a larger role in your decision process. Pass and Pl...
Old or new gear I own, previously own or recommend the following previously mentioned amps:Music Reference RM 200. I own their RM9 MKII from the mid 1990's and it's a classic amp that can be had for about $2,300... have it re-tubed from RAM Tubes for about $550 ...
Aesthetix Rhea and Calypso Tube rolling-what did you do? I bought my Calypso Signature 2nd hand with Telefunken 12AX7’s and Mullard 6922’s from Vintage Tube Services. It sounds great and is very quiet.
Most satisfying system change in 2017? Added two vintage tube amps:VAC 30/30 MKIII Signature (VAC converted my 30/70 monoblocks into two stereo amps... so I've kept one and will sell the 2nd one)Music Reference RM9 MKII
Has Anyone Uesed A PrimaLuna Amp With Harbeth Speaker's Harbeth’s sound good with both solid state AND tube amplification. It all comes down to personal preference. I’ve owned Harbeth’s for about eight years (SHL5’s and two pairs of 40.1’s). In that time, I’ve used or tried three solid state amps/integ...
Buying tubes...do they vary??? The last thing you want is to buy new tubes from Joe Blow Tube Supply, only to have some fail prematurely. I definitely would do some research on the Audiogon forums and not simply buy from the cheapest supplier out there that pops on your first ...
Diana Krall I'm starting to get the impression schubert doesn't care for Diana Krall.
Buying an item from Canada I purchased a used amp for approx. $2,650 that was made in the US, but I still paid customs clearance fees of approx. $70 and had to fill out paperwork faxed (yes faxed) from US customs. It was a hassle. YMMV.
Vacuum Tube Retailer Option Ditto on Brent Jessee Tubes. Good selection of high quality NOS tubes at reasonable prices, good advice/customer service and quick to ship.
Diana Krall Does anyone know if her live DVD's (Rio and Montreal Jazz Festival) can be purchased in CD or SACD format? My Music Vault does not read DVD or Blue Ray.
Diana Krall I love her Live in Paris cd! It's in my regular rotation. I hope she puts out another live recording soon, as I agree with some on this thread that her studio recordings are just "ok".I saw her live about 10 years ago, with Chris Botti opening.... |
