Who's using Harbeth with tubes, what speaker model and how many watts per channel? I've used Harbeth 40.1's with the following tube amps:McIntosh MC275 MKV - 75 WPC (good synergy)VAC Ren. 30/30 MK3 - 32 WPC (love this amp, but could have benefitted from more power)VAC Ren. 70/70 Sig - 68 WPC (great amp, great synergy)VAC PHI 200...
Thought My Harbeth M40.1's Were Forever Speakers - Guess Not ditto @twoleftears
Thought My Harbeth M40.1's Were Forever Speakers - Guess Not ditto @twoleftears I've recently been corresponding with a fellow Goner that recently purchased a new pair of 40.3XD's that confirmed he was initially very worried as they were initially very harsh, but finally blossomed after a break-in period.
Is this an Upgrade or a Lateral Move? John Atkinson's Stereophile measurements indicate Pulsars are easy to drive... "the Pulsar is an easy load for the partnering amplifier to drive. Not only is the phase angle relatively low, the impedance remains above 8 ohms for most of the audio...
EARBUDS! I tried Campground Audio buds and wanted to like them, but could not get them to stay in my ear. I've decided to stick with Apple... nothing fancy, but cost effective and they work!
Is this an Upgrade or a Lateral Move? My sympathies for your loss.I owned a BAT VK30 many years ago... is was easy on the eyes, but an under-performer sonically. Recommend you get off the BAT train and explore other options. I had good luck with Aesthetix Calypso and Calypso Signatu...
What tube amp for Harbeth 40.1 @decooney I use a vintage Music Reference RM9 MK2 refurbished by Roger Modjeski in 2017. It's been the best all around amp in my 20 years as an active audiophile.
Thought My Harbeth M40.1's Were Forever Speakers - Guess Not The Anni's are demo's... new as of February 2020. Not sure how many hours are on them, but I'm guessing < 500.
What tube amp for Harbeth 40.1 @decooney I did try well matched RAM Gold Lion KT77's with my 40.1's and just found them to be "okay", as they lacked the bass of Gold Lion KT88's and the warmth of RAM EL34's. Not my favorite tube for my application... but acknowledge synergy is...
Better Power Supply for a Router? @cakyol, thanks for sharing your knowledge!
What tube amp for Harbeth 40.1 I preferred Gold Lion KT 88's with my recently retired 40.1's, then moved to warmer RAM EL34's with my newly acquired, more neutral 40.2 Anni's.
Thought My Harbeth M40.1's Were Forever Speakers - Guess Not Just today, I packed up my beloved 40.1's and replaced them with 40.2 Anni's. I concur the 40.2's have "drier" less prodigious bass and less warmth (more neutral) to my ears vs. the 40.1's. Initially I missed the warmth of the 40.1's, but was ab...
Better Power Supply for a Router? @cakyol, it's good to hear from an industry expert. What are your thoughts on the quality of ethernet cable running from router to streamer... and what about the quality of the router? I'm using a simple Google Nest router with stock cable into...

Thought My Harbeth M40.1's Were Forever Speakers - Guess Not @snackeyp I never thought I'd part with my 40.1's... but I have a pair of 40.2 Anni's on order. I'm nervous and excited at the same time, as it's hard to believe another Harbeth model can improve up the 40.1. |
