Dedicated Line Advise
Minorl,Having worked on this issue extensively with many different systems, the chance of getting ground loop hum when powering equipment from the two opposing phases in your panel is greatly increased.  While I agree that in theory it should not ...

Going to rip 2000 cds. Which software?
I use a dedicated 21" iMac with a external ROM Drive for ripping, using iTunes as the library and Audio Nirvana Pus as the playback engine. Rip time for a single CD is a couple of minutes, and if the CD is not to obscure the meta data is captured ...
Dedicated Line Advise
Definitely run both lines on the same phase/leg otherwise you will most surely get hum form your system.  If you don't have enough room on one side, you can just move breaker's around.    One of the best "upgrades" i did for my system was complete...

Selling Damaged Magicos
Very easy test, take a 9V battery, touch it to the terminals at the speaker, + to the red/positive terminal and - to the black/negative terminal, this should cause outward cone movement, if no movement the driver is blown.   In most cases of exces...
Help with picking the right phono pre for the rest of my system please!
You could of course consider the Liberty B2B-1 - can be configured for any gain you'd like, standard is 45/MM and 65/MC. Easily switchable by a internal jumper accessible through a hatch cover on top.   Suggesting that maybe leave the MC setting s...

Im over Tidal
Have had some issues with Tidal, mostly here at the Shop where the internet is slow on workdays, on weekends it works like  a champ.  At home where the internet is not as taxed,  zero issues.  I like the playlists they make,  tons of great music t...
SME turntables
I like the SME Arms, and have never had any issues with setup - the 312S which is my preferred arm have some azimuth adjustment because of the removable head shell.  I do agree that VTA adjustment  is "clunky" however its not a setting I change on...
Is Vinyl Worth It
Zavato,Tubes are no better than transistors or the other way around.   A solid-state amplifier does not have to be "digital" as Freedriver erroneously suggest in his "smurky" post above,  which makes it kinda funny. Good listening,Peter
Yamaha A-S3000 - any experiences?
Had a AS2100 through here a few months back, it was astoundingly good for its price.  Did not try the Phono stage but if as good as the rest of the amp I would not worry. For a low impedance MC cartridge the difference between 50 Ohm and 100 Ohm lo...
Paint crack Wilson Sophia 2
This can happen to any object glued together, what happening is that the two cabinet parts expand/contract differently from heat and or moisture.  The effect of this is that the paint will show hairline cracks.  It has nothing to do with lack of q...
Is Vinyl Worth It
Freedriver obviously is misinformed about how a solid-state amplifier works.  He must think that a solid-state amplifier per definition has to be "digital".  Perhaps we should give him some time to study the subject carefully,  then comment,  as t...
