Bass reinforcement for very large room
Tvad, it is very generous to offer me a pair of the excellent Classic Audio horns. I would prefer the T1 but will not complain about either. If I did go to front horns it would be those speakers, or possibly one of John K's custom offerings. Or - ...
Bass reinforcement for very large room
Apachef1, it seems you failed to note that I am not interested in pushing those drivers to the limits of their excursion, causing distortion. The realization that I have come to is that even a three-way floorstander is not capable of truly pressur...
Bass reinforcement for very large room
The reason dipoles do not excite as many room nodes are the nulls to the sides. Directly to the sides, the waves fully cancel and there is no output. (Yes, I've had dipoles along with everything else.)Kijanki, I think the 938 is a very good all-ar...

Buconero117 - New speakers? YOU'RE THE DEVIL! YOU'RE THE DEVIL!!!!Kijanki - have tried 200W SS and digital amps - tube amps have more & better bass.Turns out there ARE bass nodes - there is a spot over in the dining area that has mucho bass re...

Apachef1 - you didn't read carefully enough.Drew, RW, Duke - no doubt that many subs are best. I neglected to provide one important fact - I'm not really expecting the sound/bass to fill the entire space. We listen 10' away on the couch and it jus...
Blue Note Jazz XRCD Series
Jazz at the Pawn Shop, eh? I am now very interested in other good jazz XRCDs and will be seeking them out. When I had an SACD player I thought Companion was very nearly as good as the vinyl. I should get the XRCD.
Blue Note Jazz XRCD Series
Have any of you guys heard the Blue Note XRCDs in particular? These are the only XRCDs I have.Comparisons to SACD can only be made when you've got equipment of the same caliber for both formats. In my experience many excellent SACD players are NOW...
Who has the oldest bottle of Stylast?
Here in Milwaukee at the museum we now have a display showing off the Dead Sea Scrolls, and it includes the bottle of Stylast found with the scrolls, which is mostly full yet.
The most hilarious ad ever on Audiogon?
These things are the real deal. You do need to pair them with some amps above 0% efficiency but if you do you may be rewarded with glorious sound. It is important not to skimp on the second pair of "booster" amps.

New LP's made from analog or digital masters
"Those must be the ones that are not warped and do not have a lot of surface noise that many new record buyers these days seem to complain about."Some new vinyl does have that problem. For example, spent $50 on a great Ray Brown 45 recently, did n...
New LP's made from analog or digital masters
"inextinguishable"?Thanks, Mr. Spell Checker!
New LP's made from analog or digital masters
Search the archives. Most new stuff is digitally mastered at hi-rez.It does not sound as good as analog mastering today. I have several digitally-mastered albums that are almost inextinguishable from the redbook version played on a very good DAC.
What did you get after the Minimax pre ?
The MiniMax, especially with Tutoy (sp?) mods, is not *embarrassed* by anything. Quiet, extended, dynamic, neutral, large soundstage.
deHavilland Electric Amp at RMAF
How do they sound compared to the excellent deHav 845s?
