LOUDEST Concert and Tinnitus
OzzFest 97. My ears rang for a week afterwards.    I had a pit ticket so I was right by the stage for most of the day with the exception of Pantera. I let a buddy use my ticket when they were on and I was on the lawn dodging bodies from the crowd...
How to trigger gear that doesn't have a trigger port (?)
I have a Belkin unit as shown above but there should be others on the market with 3.5mm/ 1/8” input trigger ports to control one of its outlets. Something like this from Panamax or another from a cheaper mfr:
Turntable channel imbalance
I had this happen to me a while back and found that one of the conductors from the tonearm to the output terminal was failing, making that channel much quieter than the other. I installed a new wire and all was fine.
Upgrade to McIntosh
Your local dealer might let you demo them in your home before purchase.
bose 901 and i pod
It’s possible the EQ needs servicing. It’s somewhat common and there are a couple of places around the US that can service/ rebuild them.
What happened to Rotel?
All of the Rotel gear I have run over the years has been great, including my current integrated. 🤷‍♂️
I want more bass…
As others have stated, it’s probably your room and/or speaker positioning and listening area. Some extensive measurements and rearranging will probably be in order.
Dan D'Agostino Black or Silver?
Silver.
Bose 901 series with and ipod.
The Yamaha integrated posted would work well, as long as you use the 901 eq.
Are There Improvements that Can Be Easily and Quickly Made Without Buying More Stuff?
As others have stated, it appears you have a very live and reflective room that needs taming. All of those reflections are smearing the sound from your speakers and creating a mess.    I would look at adding a large rug as well as some decorative...
Klipsch La Scala --two types?
Hopefully after 14 years they got it figured out.
Sound is better when I stand up?
I was talking about the electrical phase at different frequencies that are shared around the crossover region between the tweeters and woofers, not one speaker being wired out-of-phase to the amplifier.  It’s a common issue with multi-driver speak...
Sound is better when I stand up?
It could be a phase issue between the drivers creating the issue. What speakers are they?
And while I'm asking, has anyone modified Sony ss-cs5 speakers with a GR Research kit?
In my opinion, spending about $500 on a $100 speaker to improve it is just too cost-prohibitive.  I’d much rather buy a set of used $500-$600 speakers that when I need to sell them, I can get my money back.  When you try to sell a set of those hig...
