@soix I'm not sure if there *is* a PM function... but if your last name ends in a vowel... I might have a moment of pause.  ;-)    All kidding aside, that sounds very gracious of you.  Not sure how to sidebar this conversation, but the input is pr...

Might just take you up on that, if you let me bring the beer.  My folks still live in Washington Twp and I'm still a member at the Tenafly Masonic lodge, so it could be a banner day.  Tell me... is HIram's still in Fort Lee off Lemoine?

@soix What exit?  LOL.  I've been from Bergen in the North to Ocean and a brief stint in Cape May (Wildwood) for nine months before moving to PA.I'm beginning to seriously incline to pre-owned, for the reasons you suggest, for the same reason I ch...

@inna Since I built my system using older components that were pre-owned, would it not make sense to compare apples to apples by looking at the cost of pre-owned cables?  I have all of about $3000 into the DAC, Krell, Bryston, Polk and Dahquists. ...

@inna , I specifically asked for HOW to set a budget, so I can't answer your question about what my budget is just yet.Does one allocate a percentage (i.e. 10%) of the cost of the equipment?  For example, if my system has an original MSRP of $6000...

@inna , I don't know what I'm thinking yet.  That's why I was hoping for some insight on how one makes a decision, not only in terms of how much to spend proportional to the investment one made in the kit, but also in how the technologies differ.@...
Replace C28 with... ?
I was thinking about installing a ribbon.  :-)
Replace C28 with... ?
Wow.What a tremendous difference.  If the Bryston really made a huge improvement, the KRC-3 took it to the next level.  Far better imaging, much more fluid midrange... a huge change.Looks like the C28 will be going up for sale shortly.  Shame to l...
Martin Logan CLS "Buyer's Guide" Question
Very grateful for your assistance.  If you happen to stumble on a pair in the Northeastern PA region (keeping in mind I was ready to drive 9 hours each way for this pair), let me know.
Martin Logan CLS "Buyer's Guide" Question
That's why you're here at this juncture...correct? At this juncture, I'm beginning to think I need to have my head examined.  ;-)I've been wanting a set of CLSII's for years.  It's taken me this long to be able to afford to do so, because it's n...
Martin Logan CLS "Buyer's Guide" Question
I was told S# 2502/2503 (sequential). What would be the danger if I were to buy this set now (because they are becoming somewhat rare) and later purchased the II panels at some point in the future? How long would you say I might be able to run them,...
Martin Logan CLS "Buyer's Guide" Question
Hmmm... yeah, the photo he sent did show the gaps in the spars, so that would make 'em the I's, and his calculations on replacement year sadly mistaken, though I don't think he's done so intentionally.  You've given me a moment of pause, now.  Wha...
Martin Logan CLS "Buyer's Guide" Question
Ditto. This is a slam-dunk for information. Thanks for the help!Just made a (sight unseen) deal on what looks to be a very nice condition pair that allegedly are the IIs (upgraded electronics) with replacement panels (SN CS1H1715, I think) that we...
We recap, why not re-sist?
I didn't miss a thing at all.
We recap, why not re-sist?
Thanks to all.  My question was first and foremost about the resistors, and that's been answered clearly.  Good info - AGON knocks it out of the park again!
