Conditioning/Burn-In Method
@lak I think you missed the part where I wrote a couple times that I WORK FROM HOME and can't run speakers at volume for 200 hours.
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
I'm running a pair of Martin Logan reQuests which are 4ohms, so I figure  one of the loads that's 300W at 4Ohm should do nicely to mimic the speakers.  Thanks!

I’m guessing this one would do the trick? If not, https://www.amazon.com/Electronics-Salon-Audio-Amplifier-Non-inductive-Resistor/dp/B00N8QYMXO/ref=sr...Or does it have to be 4ohm?https://www.amazon.com/Electronics-Salon-Audio-Amplifier-Non-induct...
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
@almarg if I’m going to order something online, I might as well get the exact thing I need. Would one of these work better? Remember, I’d be attaching on the speaker cables, and I’m running a Bryston 4BST (250W@8ohms).https://www.amazon.com/Electr...
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
@almarg thanks for that thorough explanation.I wasn’t planning on a resistive load at the DAC but at the speaker wires, so that I can run the entire system in for the couple hundred hours necessary while also ensuring a good night’s sleep and prod...
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
Fair questions and points. @gdnrbob, because I'm also breaking in the speaker cables, running at higher volumes for 10 or more hours a day just isn't possible, especially since I work from home. @taww, I did set a play list of about 10 hours worth...
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
So, paraphrased: Swapping cables won't hurt, but might help.  Check.
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
Ah, well I could do that but I'm burning in the speaker cables, too, though they have a hundred or so hours head start - got 'em before I bought the ICs.
Conditioning/Burn-In Method
Regretfully, I don't happen to have another $700 change to throw away on an item that will (theoretically) be a one-time use.I take it then, that you advocate for a fairly high playback volume to get the process done as well as it can be without t...
Seeking Speaker Recommendations
LOL @roberjerman. I was just about to ask if vintage was a consideration, in which case I would suggest a pair of Dahlquist DQ10s. But the DCMs are a *great*suggestion.
Where do I start-amp or speakers ?
I posted this some thought just recently. Speakers. Because they’re typically the weakest link in the chain, most room dependent, add the most coloration and characteristics by virtue of their design (dipole, cone, horn, etc), and define the power...
Who makes budget speaker cables which are truly “good” or “exceptional” in quality?
+9(?) for Signal Cable. I'm running the Silver Resolution all around - XLR ICs and speaker cable. Truth be told, I like them more than a well known 'big name' cable at more than two or more times the price. I happened to make the observation last ...

Good advice on all points regarding scammers and equipment swaps. My view?  Depends on what your time is worth. If you really need the $120, then let him fight you for it.  As the plaintiff, he bears the burden of proof, and your defense would be th...
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers
When I retired my Dahlquist DQ10s and replaced them with a pair of ML reQuests, my friend said: "I like these new ones - I thought those other speakers were ugly as sin."An amusing statement coming from a guy that doesn't have a single piece of ma...
Power Supplies & Performance
@cleeds LOL. Yeah, so it’s helpful for me to remember that circut ≠ outlet. Go ahead and ask me why I’m not an electrician. ;-) That said, what was missing in your post was the explanation as to why.@williewonka Interesting stuff on cables. But a...
