Did your system getting better the more money you spent or more experience you gained?
Somebody that has a limited budget on these threads always thinks that he has magical insights into being an audiophile that others don’t have, which is far from the truth. I know many people (in audio clubs and in virtual settings) that have mone...
Tidal FLAC vs. Qobuz
It’s been a while since I did this. When I signed up for Qobuz, Qobuz asked if I needed to convert from tidal and when I said yes, they gave me access to this program. I’ll see if I can find this program.
Tidal FLAC vs. Qobuz
I converted from tidal to Qobuz earlier this year. I still think MQA sounded better than flax on Qobuz. I also think that tidal has more music that I like: prog rock, jazz, blues, rock, jazz. I used the free program when I went to Qobuz that used ...
Is toeing speakers a bad idea?
With a large room, why are you placing the speakers 3’ from the wall? When I had a room this size, speakers were 9’ from the front wall.
Building a dedicated listening room
I’ve built multiple dedicated audio rooms in my latest custom houses. The best room was a room inside another room to get the ideal dimensions. The whole house had closed cell spray foam insulation (the attic in the south during the summers never ...
Tekton Open Baffle Speakers
So many better speakers out there for the same or less money. If you like loud stuff (not quality) then go for it or buy a pair of cerwin Vega’s.  if you want some pretty good open baffle speakers, check out underwood hifi EP series. Heard some a ...
Has anyone heard Fink Team KIM speakers?
Heard these and their bigger brother over a year ago at the Tampa show. Nothing special. The Kim’s cost 2x than what they are worth compared to other like speakers. Their Borg models are $30k more than what they are worth. I love AMT drivers, I ha...
Purchase on Audiogon arrived not as described
The clown didn’t know how to pack the speakers. Case closed. You won’t be able to try to get your carrier to cover the damages unless they packaged them. You don’t pack any audio product with just 1 wrap of bubble wrap.  Call the credit card bank ...
Help for a Lo-Fi guy
Ask Kurt at echo audio (echohifi.com) to see what he would give you for them. He does consignments too. He is good to work with
Do I Need a Dedicated Streamer?
Never go wifi over a wired connection.  Also, have you looked at the specs of AirPlay 2? You are limited to 16/44 which is terrible. Wired there is no audio limits. I would use airplay 2 for background music only, thru a HomePod. Any better playb...
How good is good enough?
OP-can’t you ask this same question for most things in life? How about a house? Is $300k for a house good enough or is the $800k house better? How about cars/trucks? Do you like a cheap Sentra or want to move up the chain to a Porsche? Both will g...
magnepan
I’m surprised they are still in business. When the 30.7’s were coming out, I called and talked to Wendell about the 30.7’s and he told me people were buying these sight unseen and he was trying the hard sell on the 30.7’s. I told him, they would h...
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH HATE FOR THE HIGH END GEAR ON AUDIO GEAR?
There are many websites like ANA and even here on agon that have people think their $299 stereo amp has the best sq of anything out there or that cables don’t matter. But on those naysayer websites, I’ve questioned them many times about why they a...
Help with streamer software
The ps audio provides superior output interfaces like i2s which Aurender doesn’t. As for the Aurender software, it’s terrible compared to Lightning DS, Lumin, audirvana, and of course Roon. And I would bet 99% of all Aurender users use usb output ...
Roon and Streaming Services
When I switched from tidal to Qobuz, Qobuz provided a program called soundiiz and after running it, 99% of everything converted over. Some artists I have found don’t let Qobuz play certain tracks but they allowed today to play them.
