Qobuz Hi-Rez Not Necessarily the Best Sound
It was prov n over a decade ago that ripped music sounded better than the cd.  Also, analog masters are not always better. For years, many of the fantastic sounding vinyl releases used DSD in the recording process. Only when people found out that ...
Mesh network versus a simple Wi-Fi extender
Range extenders are terrible. Never use an extender using your electric circuits. There are many options on putting in a network in your home. Wired network with switches is the best. If you don’t have or can’t put in a wired network, then a mesh ...
What should be mandatory in every professional published review-
First, do you believe any of the reviews done by the magazines? They have been so biased for decades and even getting worse. When was the last time you have seen a negative review? Never! Most reviews end in “the best I have had in my system”. I’m...
Why do so many sellers take offense to offers on their listings?
I price my items according to what others have sold for. If I get an offer that is ridiculous to me, I don’t respond. I’ve gotten ridiculous offers hours after I posted things for sale which I would never accept. It’s not like going to a swap meet...
Streamers/DACs
The Lightning DS software from Auralic products is light years better than the aurender app and I prefer the Auralic products over aurender products. As good as lightning ds is, Roon is much better. As far as sound quality, I would take Roon or A...
5 Dumb Things Audiophiles Believes.
Jriggy- maybe there is a correlation here, I find jasonbourne52 posts 90% crap! IMO- there are very few true audiophiles, this is true with the reviewers in the trade rags. The majority of people on audiogon, or any of the so called audiophile we...
Streaming
Most of the posts here describe entry level systems which is what you will get SQ wise. To think otherwise is foolish. If you get a bluesound/ifi/blue jeans setup, you can always move this to a bedroom for background music when you want to get bet...
Preamps can color sound considerably. Surprising?
Tube preamps color the sound much more than SS preamps. Why do you hear go with a tube preamp and a SS amp? Every time you roll a different tube in a device you get a different sound. The SS device will sound the way it is forever.
The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them
Never trust what Valin says because he is so biased.  But, I think it’s funny that analog junkies are changing their tune toward these albums, 1 minute they are praising the sound of these albums and when they hear that DSD is involved in the proc...
Magnepan .7 Alternatives
Any other speaker, I just don’t think any Maggie speakers are that good when you want to play a variety of music thru them. I have friends with the 3.x and 20.7’s. For you smaller room and in your budget for used speakers, check out the Totem Mod...
The MoFi Mess and TAS rolling over for them
What do you expect from an audio magazine that gives every product they review a glowing review, the best of the best. This MoFi issue just makes my point that hires digital sounds as good or better than analog, that's why I sold everything analog...
Advice on Improving a Wifi-Mesh -> Ethernet Setup?
Why would anybody think reclocking Ethernet would improve sq? Ethernet is not like usb and reclockers were gimmicks most of the time for usb
A rookie with 10K, seeking advise
The problem with asking a wide open question you will get a wide open set of answers that won’t make your purchase any easier. There’s a benefit of better power cords/cables, but for your system, $125 power cord will get you a bigger benefit than...
Which Ethernet filter?
Why use a filter? Why would anybody use toslink? Toslink doesn’t support hires files like dsd or MQA.  I’ve tried the Ethernet to fiber then back again, didn’t do anything toward sq.  I also tried all the tweaks/gimmicks for usb and that was also ...
Preamp/DAC Suggestions
“Folks using DACs with volume controls as the best solution are far between. To do this and have great sound is very expensive and requires extreme knowledge and dedication to do it.”  Far from it. What is so hard, it’s actually easier to eliminat...
