South Florida Zu Druid owners
Member Gmood1 is in Alabama and now owns my previous FTA 2000 speakers. If he's not close enough for you to make the trip, he can give you his opinion.I thought they were very good, and actually had very good bass for a single driver. As I'm sure ...
watt puppy 7 / sophia?
>pair of Usher Be 20 loudspeakers which are 516,400.00 brand new and they will stomp on the WP 7 and 8.<At just over half a mill, I would think they should be better.Oz
Tyler Linbrook Sig System, Short review
>btw i see a competitor speaker up on audiogon listed today. $14,500. Still does not offer what the LSS does.Go figure.<Tell us when it was you heard this "competitor's" speaker? And how did it sound compared to the Tyler speakers?Oz
ARC PH5 or K&K Audio Phono Stage
The K&K gets my enthusiastic recommendation. Others I have owned that were not as good:phono stage of AI 3Aphono stage of Cary SLP-98EAR 834PSonic Frontiers SFP-1Bluenote Pamphiliphono stage of JJ Electronics 234Those last two were close, but ...
McCormack DNA-1 Preamp
The DNA-1 works really well with passives because of it's input sensitivity and gain. I was using a pair of the deluxe monoblocks with a TVC linestage with excellent results.Oz
Power tubes for SF Power 2?
I am pretty sure I read that KT-88s are possible. I will check again. KT-88s usually have more power and improved bass response, but don't have the natural tone of other tubes. But that is not always the case. If what you hear holds true for the P...
Nottingham Spacedeck Set up?
Chadlinz offers excellent advice. If you have someone nearby that is an experienced vinyl guy, not only could he do it for you, but teach YOU at the same time. This is something you will need to become proficient at if you continue down the analog...
Reference 3A Decapo "i" sounds shrilly
>Maybe they need more power or current than your amp can deliver.<Not likely, since they were designed around SETs. I sincerely doubt that is the problem.BTW, I am pretty familiar with this speaker. It does have a foreward sounding midrange....
Alon speakers - mark I vs. II
I thought the Mark II version had the wrap around grill cloth around the open baffle and the Mark I did not. I have a pair of Alon I Mark IIs in my video system that the original owner restored back to the look of the Mark I.Oz
Recommend a TT/Tonearm combo under $2000?
I agree with the Spacedeck recommendation. There are several on Agon now, with and w/o arms. The new Ace-Space arm is a decided improvement over the old arm. This combination just plain makes music.Oz
Pantode and Tetrode What is the difference?
"What is the difference between Pantode and Tetrode tube?"What is the difference between the analog forum and the amp forum? Maybe you should concentrate on THAT one first.......Oz
Mccormack DNA125 or Belles 150A Hot Rod
Not to divert the thread here, but does anyone (4yanx or Saygrr) know if the DNA-2 has the Plitron transformer? I am pretty sure it does, but not exactly. I have one coming tomorrow to replace my DNA-1 deluxe monoblocks. I am hoping this is a step...
Speakers for metal, hard rock ... also SS amp
Lucinda Williams should NEVER be left out.......Oz
Looking for more amp power for ACI Jaguars
I owned the Jaguars a few years ago and found them very amp friendly. I drove them with 100 watts of tube power in a room almost the same size as yours. I never felt the need for more power, but on kick drum heavy material I could definitely botto...
magnepan 1.6 needs help in the bass
Which ever sub you decide to go with, 60 Hz might be too high for the xover point. In my old largish room, the 1.6s were flat to 40 Hz. If I were you I would run them full range and bring the sub in around 30-35.Oz
