Time to get things straight.
Bravo cd. It's a hobby with lots of opinions because there are no two ears, systems or acoustics which are alike. Psychicanimal, could you share what kind of wood you are using. I'm in the process of putting a platform together and would love to l...
An unscientific poll: How often are you happy?
I'm having trouble taking this a step further since I'm laughing so hard, but here goes ...Let's face it -- the electronics, mechanics and acoustics of our systems and room won't exactly reproduce the live sound for all types of recordings. With t...
An unscientific poll: How often are you happy?
Actually Scotland is stealing millions of dollars from the audio industry. I can't tell you how much more I'd be spending on tweaks and upgrades were it not for Dalwhinnie, Balvenie, Aberlour and MaCallan. Wine works too!!
It's a Bad Movie, But It Was Fun to Watch Anyway
Gotta agree with Ed Wood -- Plan 9... What could be cheesier than cardboard gravestones falling over as actors pass by?Any of the Van Damme movies. No wait, the worst was Stealth Fighter. Seeing Ice T flying a plane with his head moving in and out ...
how many have a WAF?
Jd, congrats! How did you find the time with all your rewiring?I've been married for 21 years -- actually pretty happy years. My wife enjoys the stereo and listens to it more than I do (she's home more often) but she is not as enthusiastic as Just...
Customer service?
Ditto. I've had wonderful service from Thiel. Absolutely top notch! I'm pretty sure I dealt with Shari too -- they better hold onto her!
An unscientific poll: How often are you happy?
Excellent thread and responses! I have about $50k (MSRP)in my main system. If the recordings are good to great quality, I'm very happy about 60% of the time. That rises by about 5% with each scotch. After six scotches, even the bad recordings star...
WEL -- Wife Equivalent Language
Good thread -- shouldn't it be SEL (for spouse -- pun intended)?I use "Power Supply" for conditioners, "CD Processor" for DAC (could use "CD amp" -- far less accurate but sounds more necessary) and "preamp" for, well .. preamp. Speakers are "speak...
Very Interesting Audio Website
How in the world did you find this site? I read every word (up to the reviews) so can't fault it for being boring. But,does he get a commission for every hit on the sites he mentions? Great reading! Very nice, though biased (aren't we all?), revie...
What group do you wish would be remastered?
Townsend/Lane "Rough Mix", Passport "Infinity Machine" and any of the early Osibisa albums (fantastic African Rock).
PayPal may be in trouble......
Like others, I am not comfortable sharing all of my banking data with PayPal or anyone else. However, I use PayPal so I only have to give my credit card info to one company (PayPal) vs. numerous companies or individuals. If PayPal keeps credit car...
PayPal may be in trouble......
Mastercard is the company that will be in trouble (unless competitors follow suit quickly). How many Visa and AmEx credit card offers do you get every day? How long will it take them to set up shop right on PayPal with instant credit offers? What ...
Is there a pre-amp not processor with a sub out?
I've had good luck with running RCA interconnects directly to the sub. Then, using the other pre-amp RCA connection or XLR out to the power amp(s). That avoids the need to run interconnects from the sub to the amp or back to the preamp. The full b...
Alice and Chains
The whole Seattle scene helped reenergize rock. Those bands were (and are) great! Will sorely miss his voice. Too bad that, as Ohlala suggests, creativity lives so often at the edge.
Ceramic fuses..where to get 'em
Jdwek -- you could tell your girlfriend you are shopping for pottery (well, ceramics ...).Or you could call 636-527-3877 (Bussman -- see bussmann.com/products/Electrical/Group11.asp) who will give you the name and number of local distributors (I g...
