There's no accounting for taste....
Amazing. I've not seen it before. How in the world can bass like that not overwhelm the rest of the music? Wow!
Fun Article about Dynamic Speakers with Wood Cones
That's great! Of course, I can already anticipate the great wood type debate that will be raging in 5 years. What kind of exotic woods will be the best? ;-)Oh well. I do wonder if the speakers sound better after the consumption of sake???
Wiring in series or parallel
By the way, if you go the series route, you can lower the overall impedence by slapping a resistor across the + and - outputs (make the resistor equal to two times the impedence of your speakers -- e.g., your speakers are 8 ohms so in series they ...
Wiring in series or parallel
Running in parallel would result from sending the + output to the + in speaker 1 and the + in speaker 2. The - output would also be sent to both the - in speaker 1 and the - in speaker 2. This could either result from a) running two wires from the...
OT Seeking new job in Charlotte NC area
Hi Seanmcd. Are you trying to get out of the entire mortage banking space entirely? Commercial real estate lending or real estate sales are generally more stable, but are somewhat related (which could work to your advantage). Any additional info o...

Looking for excellent DAC without a preamp section
There are lots of great choices. I would recommend that you audition the Perpetual Technology gear (P-1a, P3-a with the Wright mods and the separate Wright power supply). Easily under $10,000 -- way under!! Sounds great, has received fine reviews....
Who Was Your Favorite One Hit Wonder
Come On Down to My Boat (baby, come on down where we can play ...)by Every Mother's Son. My wife mentioned this one to me and now I can't get it out of my head.
Favorite Music When Having Sex
Buscis, you're right on both counts -- Bo Derik and Bolero. The beat on Bolero starts very slowly and then continues to build to a satisfying crescendo. Of course, the symphony is not long enough so having a repeat button helps ;-)
Favorite Music When Having Sex
Just about anything classical. Of course, music alone is insufficient to create the mood (at least, as Newbee suggests, among married couples). Believe it or not, the most recent disc that was spinning during our intimate encounter was "Bolero". N...
Who Was Your Favorite One Hit Wonder
Blues Image, "Ride Captain Ride" For some reason, that really struck me as a teenager.Actually, I'd put several in front of that, but they've been mentioned -- Green Eyed Lady, 96 Tears & Spirit in the Sky at the forefront.By the way, the Moun...
Keep the cal audio or buy a new cd player?
I've had my CL10 for about 7 years of heavy use. I sent it in once because the random didn't work. Apart from that, all seems in good order. The CL10 sounds pretty good by itself. When paired with the Perpetual Technology dac's (P1-a, P3-a, separa...
Are your systems more Plato or Aristotle?
I'm having a hard time differentiating between essence and substance. If substance is the detail, extension and faithful reproduction of music -- I would go there. If essence is the overall character of the music without substance -- i.e., the emo...
Does "Non Compensated" Reviewing Still Exist?
Sbank, I've definately seen some of that -- but, from my experience, the driver behind it is fear of lawsuits. That's the kind of society we've elected to have so we do have to live with the consequences. No business is immune from this threat and...
Does "Non Compensated" Reviewing Still Exist?
Bingo! You hit the nail on the head. The writing is vague and tries to please the manufacturer. I love the interpretations offered above. On the other hand, I've seen some reviews in Stereophile recently that have surprised me. There are direct co...
