Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
Danlib1 is probably the most correct among us. Marco, you caught me! I do love my amp and would really, really like it to be my last. But as I thought about it, I recall having said that before ;-)
Who u gots da most uv???
Dbamac, that's great ;-) You must not have too many copies of any one artist. BTW, I forgot Little Feat and Ellington as others mentioned above.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Lakefrontroad, those are some great cars! I trust you can really open them up in Europe.
Who u gots da most uv???
Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Beethoven, Dvorak, Cowboy Junkies, Cream, Steve Earle.I have between 5 and 8 of all of the above (though I haven't done a full count of all of my vinyl). I also have several Mozart, Metallica, Bu...
Woofer dust cap repair advice, HELP
Try the above recommendations first. Worst case, you could remove the woofer, remove the magnet from the woofer and then push the dust cap back from the other side. That is very tricky and it is particularly tough to get the magnet back on right s...
Amplifiers:A Keeper for Life. Do you know of one ?
My Sierra Olympia amps. Pure Class A up to the stratosphere with a punch and musicality that is unbelievable. Extraordinary build quality. And, as Ross said, they're too heavy to get rid of ;-)
Dealing with transformer hum
As mentioned, many appliances set off the humming. Even though I have dedicated lines from a separate sub-panel, I still hear the hum whenever the microwave is used. Other motors and appliances do the same. Worst case, you may need to go to a line...
Marantz DV-8400 or Denon DVD-5900 or ?
You might want to explore the modded version of the Denon (either 2900 or 5900)available from Underwood HiFi (Walter Lieberman). I'm not affiliated with Underwood in any way -- I just happened to buy something from him last week and got a package ...
OK Come Clean, whats in your closet ?
Mejames, I designed my listening room pretty much from scratch so the corners are in good shape and the size is very good (32'2"x19'8"x12'1"). Heavy sloping woodwork and sloping tray ceilings elimnate the 90 degree corners and ceiling to wall join...
OK Come Clean, whats in your closet ?
Mt, it does multiply. I just ran into a NAD PP-1 phono preamp I forgot all about. Plus lots of isolation cones ... I wonder what else I forgot about??? ;-)Rives, good idea. Doing something that Audiogon would support for charity sounds like a plan!

What's your profession? Age?
Joe, it's been awhile since I've seen your pictures -- once again, they're great. I'm sure you're still enjoying the customized Teres! Happy listening.
Musical Amps
I've never thought of a single component being musical -- as Kotta suggests, it's all in the synergy. The source systems have to have the right timing for anything right to happen later. The speakers have to reproduce seamlessly, as if the cross-o...
REL Q108E, strange review, somewhat confused.
Specs can be very misleading by themselves. The overall solidity of the experience is key for bass. A seamless curtain of bass from 40 to 200 Hz can sound staggering compared to a "mushy" 20 to 200. Perhaps that is also the case with the REL per M...
Room Treatments, When are they required?
Slappy, much depends on your lifestyle. For me, I want to hear my system in several parts of the house, particularly the kitchen, informal eating area and small office (where I am now). So, a dedicated room made no sense for me -- I want to live w...
