TETRA SPEAKERS ANYONE?
I listened to them at a local dealership, Audio High, in the SF Bay Area. I can't remember the model, but it was their higher end pair, with the great finish. Electronics included some Chord and Conrad Johnson, if memory serves. I found that they ...
Sonic Frontiers Line 3 and Power Condtioners
Hi Rick:I used to have a Line 3 and I used a PS Audio P300 with it. It was not a good idea. Sometimes the P300 would cause a fuse to blow in the unit. It caused no damage to the Line 3 beyond the fuse blowing, bit it was mightly frustrating to kee...
Bryston b60 question...
If you get your hands on something like a REL sub, you don't need any sub outputs from the preamp per-se. Rather, the RELs can be driven directly using speaker cable from the amp's speaker terminals.
New Battery for Teres?
Guys, thanks for the input. All sounds good. Rwd, the input I got from Chris at Teres was that the battery had likely died, as it wasn't running smoothly and was making some rough noises. When I plugged directly into the wall, the motor worked gre...
Speaker Distortion or Room Interaction ?
I got dramatic improvements in speaker performance by adding Sistrum stands. Any resonances are disipated dramatically by use of thise wonderful devices. I've used the Audiopoings Sistrum 004 and 001 to great effect. Not sure if the use of such st...
New Direction-JM Lab Diva, Revel Studio or Sophia?
Well, I found a relatively local pair of JM Lab Divas, to which I've comitted. Seller is in no major hurry to sell, and I really need to sell my Acuhorns before getting the new speakers, so timing should work out.
New Direction-JM Lab Diva, Revel Studio or Sophia?
Guys, thanks for the great input so far - am getting a better idea of my choices. Also, thanks Aball for clueing me onto that article - I must check it out.Cheers,John.
Floorstanding Speaker Stands - which one?
Guys, thanks for the input so far. Hbarrel, per your good suggestion, I sent off an email to Acuhorn to see what they think. Thanks for the input on the stand suggestions so far. I'll look into each option.Cheers,John.
Linear Tracking or Not?, Any Experiences and Recs
I've been using an Airtech MG-1 linear tracking tonearm with my Teres 255, supporting a ZYX Airy 3xsb cartridge. I've been very happy with it - it replaced an OL Silver, and is clearly superior to that arm. The MG-1 including air pump set me back ...
DAC with multiple inputs
Hi jamesw20 - I use the North Star DAC which meets my input needs very well. It has four inputs including coax/spdif, either another coax/spdif or toslink, AES/EBU and I2S. The unit sounds great and looks great to boot. Also, if you later want to ...
'Crackle' coming from speakers when using HTPC
Harrya - per your suspicion, the sound levels of the HTPC were indeed maxed out. I reset them lower, and the problem is completely gone. Thanks for the easy tip.
Upgrade Path - Arm - ? Teres?
Spinitch - I generally agree with Doug and Dave, in terms of spending your budge on the table, arm and cartridge in that order. That said, I believe Teres offers a pretty compelling upgrade path (conpensating you for about 80% of the cost of your ...
New Acuhorn speakers arriving - anyone heard them?
Bequerel and others, I'll keep you posted on my impressions. The speakers are not shipping till Monday of next week now from NYC, so it will be a while till I get them in California. I'll post my findings then.Cheers,John.
Power Amp Tubes Blowing - what's wrong?
HI Bernie - yes, I got a matched quad of KR842vhd tubes. I'm still waiting on my new speakers though (Acuhorn Biancore 155 horns). They're 99db, so if anything I may have too much power with these amps, but it should be a pretty good match (the Ac...
New Acuhorn speakers arriving - anyone heard them?
Hi Bequerel:I believe the Acuhorn 155 I'm getting is one of only a few currently in the US just now. I believe it was a dealer demo.Steve, thanks for the info on the Acuhorns. I have a good room to let the 155s breath, although might be moving soo...
