UPS Driver Literally Drops Package with New Hana Umami Red
Maybe the driver has a bad back.  Next time you see him kick him in the nuts and take his mind off of it. Actually you should thank him as this will reduce the break-in time.
When Will the DAC Singularity Be Reached?
Does this sound about right ? Cheap DACs sound 85% as good as vinyl and expensive ones sound 90% as good as vinyl.  If so what DACs are they using to cut the vinyls with?
dacs that I have had in my system - a listing
Is this proof that all DACs sound the same inadequate way and in the fruitless pursuit of one that sounds as good as vinyl people will go to ridiculous lengths and still never equal vinyl?   Asking for a friend. 😊
The "Very Best Record Cleaning Formulation"
Ultrasonic cleaning is manic OCD overkill and a waste of psychological energy, time and money plus it sounds like crap while it's running.   Just say no to all of that.  It's absurd. Unless you are selling them.   https://www.amazon.com/gp/produ...
Why Don’t You Post Your System on Your Profile?
I've been getting redirects to a Mc Affee scam site saying my subscription has run out. It's only on this site.
Turntable Thrumming
My guess is that is normal motor noise. It stops when you stop the motor. And with the lid up it’s resonating and amplifying that hum.  It would do that less with the dust cover down which is where they should be while playing IMO. It’s why I mov...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
@ahuvia ossicle2brain writes that I am “not open to doing the work.”   I didn’t write that. Just to set the record straight. I can only speak about how lazy I am, which is very. :)   ****************** The flip switch concept is interesti...
Turntable Thrumming
Welcome aboard John.  Have you tried turning off the motor and seeing if it stops? Getting a test record really helps with this stuff.  It will have a track of unmodulated grooves that's made just for checking stuff like this. It could be the mo...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
It’s so easy to set up a double pole double throw manual knife switch with the two cables being compared. If I was an honest non-snake oil cable manufacturer and wanted to get super wealthy from selling a great cable I would set up some good blin...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
@thyname Yes you did offend me. When someone calls someone else’s thoughtful well written post "raging" I think it’s stupid and that offends me. And you do this kind of thing regularly, you did it to me early on when I first joined. You are...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
@mgrif104    Yes I read your post and I do believe you.  You heard a difference.     And I admitted that I should get a better outlet and power supply cords for my amps. The wall sockets are weak and also the socket on the amp itself where the...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
@thyname  Raging?   His post has more substance in one sentence than your usual sniper pot shot useless troll posts.  You are really good at them.   Anything substantive to add? What's wrong with what he said? It's light years more than what...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
Yes measurements are maybe half useful and more useless,  but expectation bias, placebo effect and when the beer happens to kick in are all things. They are both a thing.   As for power cords where does it stop?  Certainly outlets should be chan...
Some observations from a former skeptic - and a question
Everyone except you and I is hearing things, and I’m not sure about us either. There was another test where all they did was change the color of a light bulb and people thought the speaker "changing" sounded different when the speaker did not cha...
Anyone See Downside to an Ionizer blowing on Turntable?
Ionizers create ozone. Ozone is not good for rubber things like turntable belts and is harmful to breath. ******************* I’ve been going nuts on the static/record handling thing for a month now and this is what I have learned; Took me 50 pl...
