Digital LP’s
Most modern recordings are made digitally, these days. They're just made at much higher resolutions and bitrates than what comes out on CD (16/44) and various other download formats. Usually, the digital masters will use a resolution of at lea...
Digital LP’s
Virtually all vinyl is now mastered from digital. My best sounding vinyl are these. It’s all about the bit rate of the mastering. If it’s redbook (16/44) it will sound no better than CD, which IMO is not very good.   Most albums are now mastered a...
Why do Wav and Flac Files Sound Different?
Now you tell me Dave and Troy !. After the OP  I re ripped all 400 CDs to wave.  Now I have to re-rip back to FLAC so I can have cover art again.    I wish you guys would make up my mind.  Maybe I'll just wait for the thread to stop and count the...
Why do Wav and Flac Files Sound Different?
and I just ripped about 400 CDs in FLAC at the "5" setting.....onto the SSD of my Eversolo A8 So now I want to A/B the rip with the original CD, because the rips sound fine to me but haven't compared them back to back.
Youtube audiophile hi res sounds MUCH better than my Eversolo streamer
How are you getting YT through your stereo?  It must be going through a DAC somewhere?

High End System Building. How important is the matching, cabling and room? Thoughts ?
An interesting experiment would be to take two DPDT switches like these And hook up two competing cables. With a simple throw of the switch one could easily A/B test cables. I wonder why this isn’t done by the cable sellers at audio shows. It wou...
High End System Building. How important is the matching, cabling and room? Thoughts ?
I like my 12 gauge radio shack cables to be flexible so they drape from ceiling to the Maggies hung from it.  I think I have a few soldered splices in one of them because I didn't have a long enough length.  So they match the small room.   I mean...
Does the streamer effect sound quality
I don't have high end streaming equipment but according to Paul who certainly does seems to think CDs sound better.
Bass lovers - Bela Fleck - Flight of the Cosmic Hippo
Yeah, great CD.  Amazing bass.  Unique sound they had.  Too bad it seems like it was a one time thing.  I have several Bela Fleck and related CDs but nothing sounds like that one.
Does the streamer effect sound quality
But CDs sound better than any high end streamer right?  Assuming the same DAC.
Does a record player make that much of a difference??
Cartridge is the most important.  Second is the phono pre. As long as the TT is not complete garbage it’s the least important. I don’t understand how one could argue otherwise. Unless one sells expensive TTs.
Tubes, tone, and old age.
atmaspher 12-07-2023 at 02:09pm  And on a related note, what measurements - if there are any - show the difference in sound between SS and tubes? Could one see this on a frequency chart? Yes. Look at distortion vs frequency- if it begins ...
Tubes, tone, and old age.
And on a related note, what measurements - if there are any - show the difference in sound between SS and tubes? Could one see this on a frequency chart? I suspect that this is one of those areas where measurements tell us very little.
