Bat VK-600M SE, or halcro dm-88 or MBL 9011
Davis, if you don't need as much power as the 9008s give, try the smaller 8011AM monoblocks.. I find these are actually better than the 9008, even though they're much cheaper! :) Marginally less grunt, but more natural-sounding. Another option wou...
How's a Harman/Kardon HD7600?
That's an old player, it dates from the late 80s. I had one back in '89 and while it was nice then, it wouldn't have a chance against today's offerings. With that money I'd much rather get a new entry-level player from one of the big Japanese. Take...
Vitus audio?
Kops, I suggest you start by auditioning the Boulder 1060 or 2060 in your system. If you like what they do, the search ends there. I strongly doubt there is anything out there that does what they do better. As many have said this is about sound pre...
Vitus audio?
I've heard the huge mono amps, the small integrated and a prototype SACD player at a show last year, paired with Peak Consult Zoltan speakers, and the latest PAD cables (top of the range throughout). Mostly it was excellent, natural-sounding, airy...
Anyone owns the mbl 116?
Congrats Simon! :)I have ordered them as well, should be getting them late March if all goes well.As for cables, the best I've heard so far is a silver/copper hybrid cable as interconnect (balanced) that my dealer makes, and Audience Au24. That's ...
Best Sonus Faber for 16 sq room. ?
I just want to emphasize that the Stradivari is NOT for small rooms. That really doesn't work at all! I've heard them in smaller spaces and they sound quite terrible. They need a big room to do their magic. 25m2 is on the very low end of the scale,...
Musical Fidelity Tri-Vista or Nu-Vista?
Personally I find the Nu-Vistas much nicer. They're warmer overall, gives an analog impression. I have the M3 integrated and the 3D CD player, and together they are very nice indeed. I'm particularly fond of the CD player, I think this is a very g...
Interested in a weekly audiophile radio show?
Sounds like a great idea.. Hopefully you can make it a podcast so we international folks can listen to it as well. :)
CES / THE Show
It's strange that MBL choose to play so loud and with rock music and such at shows. Sure, they can rock, and sure, they can play loud - but that's certainly not their biggest strength. First of all, I'm not a dealer, just a fan. :)Go to an MBL dea...
Best speakers for off-axis listening
If you can live without deep bass, the MBL 121 will fit your budget (10K new).. It goes down to the high 40s or something like that. Try listening to it and see what you think!
Post impressions on the new MBL at CES please?
OMG.. Audio Federation has posted a pic now. Check this out, it looks pretty evil:http://www.audiofederation.com/hifiing/2007/CES2007/day3/IMG_6760.jpg4-box design, separate bass towers and what appears to be two 101's in a D'Appolito arrangement?
Post impressions on the new MBL at CES please?
Nobody visited this room yet??
Best speakers for off-axis listening
Gsm18439: you need to audition some MBL speakers, they are omnidirectional and sound great anywhere in the room.
New to dac/cd transport concept
I can't answer you there I'm afraid, since I have no experience with any of them. :) I play only regular CDs for now.Check out the thread called "Reference DACs - an overall perspective"-something and ask the guys in there, they are very knowledge...
New to dac/cd transport concept
>>There are no outboard DACS that will decode the DSD datastream of SACD.>>You will not find a high end Transport DAC combination that will play SACD as it is a proprietary format.Where did you get this from? There are several transpor...
