Magico speakers too clinical and fatiguing?
I have had Magic S7's driven by VAC amps and Preamps for 7 years. They have never been fatiguing in the least, even after 6-7 hours of listening.  We frequently have guests over for dinner and music and I have to drag them out of the room to get s...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
@terry9 On page 43 of Neil's book, he demonstrates with pictures rinsing with tap water using the label protector handles and mentioned the distilled water rinse/spritz using nalgene bottles.  Marbles intact-at least in this context!
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
@ljgerens While I don't necessarily advocate for using tap water, others including Neil Antin do. I offered it as a possible remedy to rinse detergent if used in the US machine.   In my post I recommended rinsing with Distilled water after using t...
Kirmuss 'In the Groove' Ultrasonic Record Restorer - Upscale Audio Edition
The Kirmus machine is a modified Isonic unit.  You don't need his process to get a clean record. I have both the Isonic and Degritter.  Degritter is the best, but more expensive.  For used records I start with my VPI, followed by the isonic and fi...
Oh my goodness!
To me, all of this discourse is really nothing than an oblique orbit around the audiophile segment of “happiness”. As in all things in life, aspirations are good until they impinge on happiness. Be happy with what you have and don’t let what you d...

@mulveling - Thanks so much for the info-that post will help me a lot.  I'd like for you to clarify one point if you would be so kind.  I will probably never use the 200iqs in stereo mode.  With Mono use only in mind, what would be your go to tube...

Soo. Back to point. @mulveling, since you've had extensive experience with the 200iq's and the VAC master preamp, what would be your next tube to experiment with if you were in my shoes?  Also, good luck with Helene-hopefully she powers down some ...

@mijostyn I suspect a stronger sub array is in the near future.  Will need to live with the KT-170s for a while, but agree that I should give the KT-88's another try.  BTW, 90 is the peak for listening, which is permissible by OSHA's standards for...

@wsrrsw I have over 400 hrs in.  I'll refer you back to my original post which details the adventure and results.  I love em.

@mijostyn I don't really have digital phobia at all.  I started with a room and a pair of monoblocks in my new house.  I was ALL digital until about 9 years ago.  Actually most of my vinyl is from my youth, but I swallowed the CD blue pill and did...

@mijostyn Thanks for taking the time and effort to help me improve my system.  I don't do any sound measurements, but it's clear that you have mastered the process. I actually believe everything you are saying.  Initially, I was entertaining purch...

@peter_s I purchased my 170s from Vivatubes.com. and had a good experience.  @mijostyn I would like to try them again.  My initial audition was with the KT-88s and I found them to be somewhat anemic.  When I talked with Kevin about tube options, ...
Truly Stunning Vinyl Album
Mike from "The in groove" has a great video on his favorite top 100 vinyl records still in press.  His tastes are rock, classic jazz, and blues.  A great and informative video.  The albums featured are actually still available and would be a great...
