Best tube pre-amps under $1,000 NOS tubes from Brent J. can make a big difference. He's the only guy I get NOS tubes from. Years of dealing with him as verified his knowledge of tubes.
Bass Response Too many bass traps. Two in the front corners should be sufficient. Experimentation, as Ahendler suggested will give you the answer.
Why do NOS Tubes sound better than new tubes? I have absolutely no idea "why", they sound much better, but I can tell you with certainty that they also last a lot longer. That last factor, plus the sonics; justifies the higher price for me.
Favorite Female vocals that give you goose bumps Although I can think of many favorites by Carmen McRae, I'll pick three: "And I Love Him"; "Yesterdays", and "The Shadow of Your Smile".
Top 10 Jazz recordings ever In addition to all of the above, Cassandra Wilson, "Blue light Til Dawn" is a good one. She is the only female vocalist in my collection, that I see before me when she sings. Not because she is the most beautiful, or has the most beautiful voice; ...
If you could bring back one great artist that has Grant Green.
When to replace pre-amp tube? NOS tubes last much longer than new tubes. This is something else to factor in when considering cost.
Female Jazz Singers...new person/new releases... I can not imagine the OP not having Diane Schuur in his collection already. I hope he corrects me if I'm wrong.Casandra Wilson is the most unique singer to come along in some time; she is what I call "authentic". She is so unmistakable, that when ...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz This is video that I could look at over and over; it reminds me of Nepal, and it has music to match.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8ri14rw32c&ob=av2e
The Evolution of Modern Jazz John is in fine form as usual. Check this Oriental violinist, he really gets down.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyZXubnLT6g&feature=related
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Inna, "Heart of The Imagrants" displays the melancholy side of Al Di Meola; it's sad but very beautiful. The way he uses bandoneon and voices gives the music a hint of Astor Piazzola. He also incorporates many other diverse elements in this music;...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Frogman, thanks for the heads up on the bandoneon. I thought "bandoneon" was a South American name for the accordion, now I know they are two entirely different instruments. I have Al Di Meola plays Piazolla, now I'll get "Piazolla".
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Edorr, I have 5 CD's by Rabih Abou Khalil, and all the covers are as beautiful as the music. "The Astounding Eyes of Rita"is the only CD I have by Anuoar Brahem. I keep looking for a word or words to describe the photograph of "Rita", but can't qu...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Whether or not "World jazz" is jazz, I'll leave that for purists like Wynton Marsalis to debate. I know I'm enjoying all the music that's been submitted under this category, and the last phase of the music we call"jazz". I also feel that if Charle...
The Evolution of Modern Jazz Albertporter, I like every detail in that video, including the shoes. That music is destined for my collection. Normally I don't like accordion, but that guy blows me away. |
