How do I hook up 2 preamps to one amp Go to radio shack and buy a double pole double throw switch. Connect each pre to one side of the switch and the amp to the center. By flipping the switch you will alternate between pre A or pre B feeding amp C.
Do You Love Music or Do You Love Hi-Fi? Every lousy CD in my collection was recommended by Stereophile and the music forum sucks. I believe this confirms your thesis. 90% of "Goners" use music to hear the gear, while music lovers use gear to hear the music.
Good tube amp kit for sale these days The ST-70 is not for beginners.
Why amps, pre-amps, integrated amps??? There is no better way to buy, than buying good designs that have withstood the tests of time, and that is the reason the price is going up on the best used equipment.
Is there one item you have been wishing for? Using vinyl as an example, the cartridge copies something from the disc, sends it to the phono pre; which makes a "copy", and sends that to the pre; which makes a "copy" and sends that to the amp; which makes a "copy" and sends that to the crossov...
Why amps, pre-amps, integrated amps??? If you're into "kits", you can also get deep into the "high end" by substituting parts. For example you could substitute better capacitors, of the same value of course; and other parts as well. This would give you a true "high end" amp.
Why amps, pre-amps, integrated amps??? I like vintage tuners. In regard to the 180wpc power amp as compared to the very same amp as monoblocks, from a price performance point of view the 180wpc would be the winner; but there's nothing like the 3D soundstage of monoblocks, this is a res...
Upgrade Sota Comet or buy a used table? The Sota Comet was considered an insult to the Sota name by audiophile's who knew more than me.
Looking for a softer tube NOS RCA 12au 7 Black top or clear top will work, and they are not as expensive as Mullards. I also believe their softer. In no way am I knocking Mullards, just differentiating.
Bandwidth question? While you don't have to be a "rocket scientist" to know what you hear, you do have to be a scientist in order to explain what you hear."Harmonics" are what separates the "high end" from "midfi". For example, if the fundamental frequency is 25 HZ, ...
"Audiophile Jabberwocky" Rockvirgo, if you go to the Analog forum, and then find the reel to reel thread; you will find a number of "Goners" who argued me that it was impossible to have a playback "copy" from my reel that was better than the original.Although I could be w...
Why amps, pre-amps, integrated amps??? Georgester, these are some very good posts with few contradictions. I think they all contribute to the total picture.
Why amps, pre-amps, integrated amps??? "Hi end" audio is all about diminishing returns. All separate and mono blocks yield the ultimate audio when this is what your ears require, and you listen to music enough to justify the expense.I'm sure separate power supplies have a lot to do wit...
Bandwidth question? No one brought "harmonics" into this debate?
"Audiophile Jabberwocky" Rockvirgo, you don't know squat about electronics, do you? |
