Integrateds: Why do they all SUCK?
Accuphase E-470 with phono option board and DAC option board. Paired with my ATC HTS40's, I can hardly imagine a more refined, sophisticated and musical component.

With all due respect, slaw, I'm sure Ruston's DIY approach is amazing but the AudioDesk, at least MY Audiodesk RCM, cleans so well that there isn't enough dirt left in the grooves for anything to blow it away by "a long shot."

Hello Peter,    Don't you love our curse? No matter how good my system sounds I'm always careful to never let my wonderful (and indulgent) wife know that I'm completely satisfied. Terrible, I know.    I had an Exact cart which was my first 'good' ...
Nuforce STA200 hum noise, will a preamp solve it?
Hello,    I'm sure it's disconcerting to hear a hum in what should be a very quiet piece of gear. I'm considering buying one of the same amps for my office system. When convenient, try switching off every circuit in the house at the breaker except...
Best analytical loudspeakers for strings (midrange)?
Hi,    I'm with shadorne, ATC's are sound microscopes. The motor assemblies of their in-house made drivers are massive and manufactured to an extremely high standard. Their Super Linear midrange driver has a magnet that weighs nearly twenty pounds...
Full-sounding SS amps (besides Pass)
My ATC's could sound overly analytical with the wrong amp, but with an Accuphase E-470 driving them the sound is full, rich, and and warm.... but never lacking in detail. I dream of moving up in the Accuphase line!
Wharfedale Denton vs Diamond 225
Yes, chrisr, it's been extremely reliable. It's on almost continuously.
Accuphase E-470 or Luxman 590ax II ?
Well thanks jafant and builder for the nice compliment on my pics. Gryphongryph, I couldn't imagine that you will be nothing less than thrilled with whatever you choose. My experience with both brands has been wonderful. I'd love to know your expe...
Searching for the most "accurate" speaker (below 15K)
Hello Vermeer,    If accuracy to the source is your goal then get the best ATC's that fit within your budget. ATC drivers are some of the best made, the magnet assembly on their SL midrange weighs about 20 lbs. ATC's are also extremely dynamic and...
Wharfedale Denton vs Diamond 225
I have a pair of the Dentons and really love them; and they look great. Pics in my Village Baker Madness virtual system.~Oran
Accuphase E-470 or Luxman 590ax II ?
Forgot about the headphone question.... I have used them both, they both sounded great, but I've never owned top notch headphones or low sensitivity 'phones either.
Accuphase E-470 or Luxman 590ax II ?
To be honest I can't really say which one sounded warmer, and maybe that's not even the right word. And recently I've made several changes to my system; new cart, phonostage, and now the ATC HTS40's (like the SCM40's but a different enclosure), so...
Accuphase E-470 or Luxman 590ax II ?
I have an Accuphase E-470, which I bought because my Luxman L-550ax didn't quite have the juice to really light up my inefficient ATC SCM19's. The Lux really did have plenty of power, but I get a little exuberant with the volume control sometimes....
Upgrade from Rega Elys 2
ericsch,    I would only be sure about the 2M series. I shimmed my 303 arm with these little plumbing washers; even tested them with a micrometer to see if they had tight tolerances, which indeed they did to at least a ten-thousandth on an inch. I...
Upgrade from Rega Elys 2
Hello, I’ve had a 2M Black on my Rega for a awhile and loved it. It has tons of detail, great dynamics, and generates a robust signal that lowers the perceived noise floor. All in all, a fantastic cart.Regards,Oran
