VPI HW 19 - replacing springs with pucks or cones I don't agree with Mark's comments about sand. A sandbox under my VPI provided me with one of the biggest improvements in image solidity, quietness, blackness of background, etc. at one of the cheapest prices I've ever paid.
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier La45: You are right on the mark. I too sense an extremely low noise floor. One can pick up on recorded sounds that resemble the barest whisper. I'm now extremely interested to hear that Dimension interconnect though I currently own two other highl...
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Pardon my mistake ! Of course, I meant the top of the line Dimension, not Discovery.
Audio Horizons TP 2.0 Preamplifier Mitch...All I can say is that I just received Joseph's Dimension speaker cable. Absolutely wonderful tonality, clarity, detail and presence. In my system, it relegated to obscurity some very fine Siltech cable. I agree with you---at AH's prices, j...
Acoustic Zen vs Synergistic Research I compared Synergistic Tesla Acoustic Ref with the AZ Satori Shotgun, and found the Synergistic somewhat better balanced and more accurate overall. That said, however, I found the AZ to be an extremely fine sounding cable, with an excellent sense ...
Review: Wegrzyn Loudspeaker &Cable Co. Copper Slam Special Edtion Power cord Like Dave B, I too am extremely impressed with Walter Wegrzyn's Copper Slam power cord. I have the Ultimate 10 gauge version, which Walter is offering on a 60 day home trial, but it's not going back to him. In fact, IMHO it surpasses one of the mo...

Not necessarily in order, my favorites are Brahms, Dvorak, Sibelius and Vaughan Williams, followed by Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Bruckner, Mendelssohn, Beethoven and Shostakovich. Forced to choose an absolute favorite composer, Brahms. Favorit...
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? You might want to look at and listen to the Joule Electra LAP 150 Mk2, which has line and phono stage capabilities for most low output moving coils. I'm extremely impressed with its combination of dynamics and musicality + asking price. I've owned...
Opportunity to buy the best Preamp... but which? The absolute best preamp does not exist any more than the absolute sound does, with the exception of the magazine that owns that title. Too many variables interact to produce countless impressions and outcomes. With all of the colorations out ther...
A "house sound" among turntable manufacturers ? Tripper: Well, even if the cat doesn't quite catch its tail, maybe it will have experienced some degree of amusement ! Emailist: You anticipate the Serac having "...the Galibier house sound..." Could you please offer some description as to what th...
A "house sound" among turntable manufacturers ? Rnm4: Before reading your comment I had the same thought, so I smiled to myself when I read it. Hopefully, some info will emerge that's more in line with my question. In any event, I'm comfortable with the notion that others feel free to do their ...
Excellent turntables with threaded spindles ? Doug: Your observation on the Teres clamp and its application sounds encouraging. I am interested also in how effective The Galibier Anvil is in providing positive results regarding the turntable/record synergy. Can anyone out there offer any help...
A "house sound" among turntable manufacturers ? Mark and Undertow: Your points are well taken, and before initiating this thread, I was well aware of the potential here for opening the proverbial can of worms. I have tried to minimize that tendency by emphasizing conditions where either other v...
Excellent turntables with threaded spindles ? But do record weights effectively deal with warped lps, especially those with pinch warp ?
Transfiguration Temper W vs. V-sound differences ? Thomas: Please disregard my inexcusable repetitiveness. Hope it's not a sign of early dementia. My only remaining concern is bottom end weight/authority. Thanks. |
