Any fans of Jordi Savall? What is there on vinyl?
Oops - that's weird - my original draft and final edited version both appeared. Never had that happen before...
Any fans of Jordi Savall? What is there on vinyl?
Hi - I have had quite a lot of Savall on vinyl, and frankly I think the Astree lp's are overrated. I have kept very few Astree of any artist. The Savall that I enjoy most is the Hesperion XX on EMI, but also his albums on Telefunken in the "Musiqu...

Blue Note reissues as an investment?
A few years ago I spent about $90 for the reissue of Rossini's Sonate A Quatro (Accardo on violin) on Philips which was advertised as limited to 1000 numbered copies. Well, about a nine months later, numbers 1001 to 2000 started popping up for sal...
Blue Note reissues as an investment?
Hi - Oops, for some reason, that set showed up in my search for lp's but I didn't open it to read the description. You can see a list of many past auctions here:http://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=mclean+mosaic&...
Blue Note reissues as an investment?
There's a lot of randomness on Ebay, and i didn't see the auction you're referring to but that result would be a rare one. The McLean Blue Note sets have averaged around $270-$280 for years. One just went in March for $270, and there's one up righ...
Blue Note reissues as an investment?
Classic Records, Analogue Productions, Mosaic, Music Matters - they're just going to keep coming. There will always be supply to fill any major void in demand. Frankly, I think the LP craze peaked (pricewise) in 2006. I have close to 200 sealed re...
I just went up two notches in resolution
Hey - I wouldn't knock the Outlaw stuff either. It's probably the most underrated / overlooked new audio equipment out there. Their design philosophy is extremely sound, specs are top notch, and build is excellent. The only things Outlaw lacks are...
Japanese Vinyl?
I have some unbelievably dynamic Pro-Use Series' that reproduce piano amazingly (for example "Jun Fukamachi At Steinway" is the most dynamic piano recording I've ever heard). I don't think any compression or peak-limiting was used at all, which WI...
Japanese Vinyl?
The Japanese vinyl that is really great are the lp's that are recorded, mastered and manufactured in Japan. Labels like Three Blind Mice, Yupiteru, AudioLab, Toshiba Pro-Use, RCA Direct Cutting Series, etc. These tend to be jazz labels.Everything ...
What is the difference in a 2 eye and 6 eye record
The "eyes" on the labels are actually microphones, but it looks kind of like an eye, hence the nickname. "Six-Eye" just has more of a ring to it than "Six-Mic" I guess. Eventually, CBS actually started using an eye as its logo instead for broadcas...
Reiner RCA "Sheherazade" LP
Hi - Don't know why the clickable link got truncated in my previous post. Here it is again: http://www.high-endaudio.com/SR-BASIC4.html#SchIf this one still doesn't take you there directly, look for the actual link titled "RIMSKY-KORSAKOFF/SCHEHER...
Reiner RCA "Sheherazade" LP
The reissues come up from time to time - just have to be patient, but it's not likely you'll get a VG+ or better original for $40. There IS a sealed Classic reissue available in Ebay stores right now for $49.95. Search Google occasionally in addit...
Denver record store s with Classical vinyl?
Thanks for the Twist and Shout recommendation. The classical selection wasn't huge but still got some nice items at great prices. A few examples:Mengelberg - St. Matthew's Passion, a pretty sought after 3 lp set on Philips for $2.99Rossini Sonatas...
Denver record store s with Classical vinyl?
Hi - Thanks, I'll stop in there tomorrow. I'm here now, and actually found 2 nice LPs in the Goodwill on S. Broadway:Propinquity - which is pretty rare indie out of Boulder from 1972, and the original Funkadelic album on Westbound/Janus. So I'm al...
