Is there an actual difference between AB and A/AB ? You're not wrong, but what's your point? Knowing how many class A watts an amp can provide is useful info.
The Border Patrol DAC - Maybe linearity in a DAC is bad ... Spitballing In the Stereophile 2nd opinion review the reviewer specifically mentions that the Border Patrol sounds like the Benchmark, but with a vintage tube compressor inserted. It's not surprising that listeners would like the resulting sound. It's a fle...
Where's the love for my RP-10 and Apheta 2? Would not do either. You have a great phono setup that you are satisfied with, so why change? CD players are a dead end, IMHO. Get a hard drive playback/streamer for digital.
Favorite band or artist of all time? Sounds like someone who never let his backbone slip.
Favorite band or artist of all time? Chambers Brothers and Band of Gypsys when Mitch Mitchell replaced Buddy Miles.
KEF for Near-field? Cleeds, I said it was a non-technical answer. Here's a link to the technical answer. There's a reason why so many audiophiles think the room is the most critical component.

Imaging question I wasn't at the recording, the mix down or the mastering sessions, but I'm going to speculate. What you hear is exactly what they wanted the song to sound like. Dense and loud. Kind of like an assault to your ears. Reducing the stereo width le...
Catastrophic Accident! What To Do!? I'm sorry for your loss, but please explain why you've replaced fuses dozens of times over the years?
The Border Patrol DAC - Maybe linearity in a DAC is bad ... Spitballing The most common use of a compressor in music production is to reduce overall dynamic range by some combination of lowering the peaks and increasing the soft passages. If uses judiciously it will bring out low level detail in a track. It's a basi...
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers? "Killing Floor" is the song LZ ripped off with "Lemon Song". They also paid homage to Robert Johnson.
Jimmy Page, It's time to call your lawyers? My bugaboo with Led Zep revolves around Abel Ferrara's 1992 film "Bad Lieutenant". A critical element in the film is Schooly D's song "The Signifying Rapper". The song is from 1988 and it sampled LZ's "Kashmir", but it did so without getting cle...
Threat of fire from audio equipment Hodu, I read the Dudley article and thought it was unfortunate. But then again, I don't think Dudley's experience reflects a typical audiophile. He's into esoteric and/or vintage tube amplifiers which truth be told, I wouldn't leave unattended e... |
