New Santana Album "Africa Speaks" We don't need no stinkin' badges!
Guest suddenly takes it upon herself to move my speakers Where did I say "standby and watch"? I said to either make your system unavailable or accept some responsibility for what may happen. Is that hard to understand?
Guest suddenly takes it upon herself to move my speakers If you are going to invite people into your house you should treat them like guest. If you don't want them looking at, touching, breathing on, moving or otherwise interacting with your high fidelity system, then keep your system in a locked room....
Any reason not to place stand mounted speakers upside down? It really depends upon the specific loudspeaker. Some will have problems, as others have noted, and some won't. Same thing with turning them sideways.
Any reason not to place stand mounted speakers upside down? No one on this forum knows more about your loudspeakers than Alan Shaw.
Adjusting speaker positioning. What, if anything, to expect? Rather than asking for opinions before you take action, why not just move the loudspeakers around and see what you think is happening? Try different locations, toe-in and tilt angles. Take your time for this could take months of listening. If i...
Help me understand John Coltrane .... seriously. I'm not going to tell you where to start, but figuratively and literally Chasing the Trane will chase your troubles away.
Is there a such too much power for speakers? If you really only listen at moderate volumes at night, then go with the S-200.

So What Is Real? You're asking the wrong question. Instead ask, "What Is Hip?" It has a beat and it's easy to dance to. Ain't it funky now! Seriously, being an audiophile is a harmless hobby/activity, don't take it too seriously. Well at least take it less se...
Subwoofer matching Why not use the Avantgarde subwoofer? It's specifically designed to work with their horn loudspeakers.
Has all decency left the entire planet? Decency is everywhere. You just have to go out and find it.
Wide baffle speakers are better than narrow When John Bau designed the Spica Angelus he made the baffle narrow for the woofer/midrange, but wide for the tweeter. I own a wide baffle Spendor 9/1 and a narrow baffle Gradient Revolution and each sounds quite good. Not drawing any hard conclu...
There's a lot more bass in a 6.5" driver than most of you think Assuming low distortion, a small driver can either go low or go loud. Most small woofer systems have relatively high distortion as they go low and cannot achieve high SPLs. In average sized rooms and for most listeners it's a reasonable compromise.
Love it when it snows I agree with Oregonpappa that there's plenty of open space to still build out. The question is whether we should? There's 7.8 billion humans on the planet and do they all deserve multiple houses and highways to drive between them? Do you need a... |
