What country still has music?
When you look backwards you selectively limit your view to the best music of an era, whereas the music of today benefits from no such filter and of course seems worse in comparison. An interesting take on this effect are the Owen Wilson and Marion...
Is HDtracks really selling you Hi-Rez music?
Dasign, is your point that HDtracks sold you a HiRez file that was actually not a HiRez file, or that you couldn't hear the difference between the HiRez file and other copies of the music you already own?
Pssst . . . . best New Album Perhaps of the Decade
And what's so wrong with Bruno Mars?
Which ARC reference component to upgrade?
What is your current system not doing that you would want your upgraded system to do?
Need operating instructions for Roksan Kandy KA-1
If it's like the Caspian series you cannot switch the unit off without using the back panel rocker switch.Attach the amp to speakers and a source component and figure out how the lights work. Set the volume to low when doing this.
What kind of power cord comes with expensive gear
Interesting responses. I assume what has been said about power cords also applies to fuses? The manufacturer should just supply the amp with a generic fuse on the assumption that an audiophile will replace it with one of their choosing. I imaging ...
What is nearfield listening?
SOund artifacts that require room acoustics and reflected sound to be heard, like imaging, soundstage, and "air" are not a consideration.I disagree. Imaging, soundstage and air do not require reflected sound. The can be enhanced by reflected sound...
What is nearfield listening?
Has nothing to do with the angle formed by the speaker. Near field is simply listening close enough such that the direct sound from the speaker is more than the room reflected sound.
Electro Voice Georgian II speakers
Look here in the third row.
Need a system for Chamber music--ideas?
How close are you sitting to the 3.7s?Just my opinion, but using a front row center seat as a reference is faulty. It's as if you're trying to bring the audiophile experience to the concert hall. Sit further back, even if only a few rows, and get ...
D'Agostino Momentum amp melts down
So you admit you have a agenda! I thought so.Since when, especially on an audiophile internet forum where sound quality is praised and measurements denigrated, did the Stereophile 1/3 power test become the keystone of amplifier quality? A failure ...
Next step suggestions, from Spendor SP100r ?
Maz65, a few random opinions:the Magneplanar, DeVore and JBL are all excellent loudspeakers, but being that you have severe placement restrictions, how will any of these speakers sound better than what you already have? From looking at your system...
D'Agostino Momentum amp melts down
A quick internet search shows that the following amps did not, or could not pass the Stereophile administered 1/3 power test: Bryston 14BB-SST, Arcam Alpha 10P, McIntosh Mc1201 and Pass X1000. I can only imagine that a thorough search would turn u...
A few basic tube questions
There is no reason to use the same brand 6dj8 tube in the preamp as in the power amps. It just doesn't work that way with different manufacturers using different circuit designs. You can spend from $20 to $250 on a good 6dj8/6922 tube. Let us know ...
A few basic tube questions
You're making it way too complicated and doing it too much too quickly. The responses to your question are good, but they are encouraging your over complication. You are new to tubes and you've just secured two new tubed components. Spend the next...
