What are Epicure 3.0 Pyramid speakers worth?
I own two EPI vintage loudspeakers. What drives the value down is that you need a very specific buyer for your Epicure 3s and it's a very small pool of them. Furthermore, depending upon where you're located, since practically speaking you can't sh...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
Mezmo, microphones do not "hear" the way human ears hear. There are dummy head microphone systems that attempt to replicate the human head/ears, but recordings made with them typically do not sound right when played back over loudspeakers. Here's a...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
Commenting on Learsfool's most recent post -- multi-miking classical recordings is not necessitated by the use of digital recording devices. There are no technical reasons why a 2 or 3 track, a la 1950s Decca/Mercury/RCA, digital recording cannot ...
What are Epicure 3.0 Pyramid speakers worth?
I doubt you could even get $150 for them. Your limited to a local sale to someone who is an EPI fanatic. Drivers need to be rebuilt and the crossovers probably need work. Here is a link to info about them: http://www.humanspeakers.com/cgi-bin/page....
Fremer's review of the Anna cartridge
Actusreus, if there wasn't an issue with faulty components would you be placing an order for an Anna?
Fremer's review of the Anna cartridge
I read the review and thought it was good reporting. Fremer clearly outlined all the problems he had with the product and gave a description of what he heard. I would catergorize the comments in this thread about price, cost to retip and cartridge...
Is soundstage just a distortion?
If one cartridge can produce an other worldly soundstage compared to another, then obviuosly a cartridge can rearrange the soundstage. It is also not clear what conclusions can be drawn about analog versus digital. What exactly do people mean when ...
Dunlavy SC IV or Merlin VSM M
I think it would be great if more manufacturers commented about their products. Manufacturers know more about their products than reviewers, users, or even dealers. Do manufacturers have an agenda? Sure, but it is an obvious bias that is easily un...
Dunlavy SC IV or Merlin VSM M
I think the manufacturer's participation in this thread was exemplary. The criticsm directed at him was unwarranted.
Is soundstage just a distortion?
Soundstage is determined by recording technique. For purist recordings the microphone setup is the determinate. For studio recordings soundstage info is created via electronic processors. On the reproduction side it is not clear to me that audioph...
When a Reviewer "likes" something
A reader should be able to know if a reviewer did not purchase his reference components. Getting audiophile quality components as a gift or long term loan is a potential conflict.
Cary 303t Pro or Ayre c5xemp
I have a Rowland 112 and I've never noticed any deficiencies in imaging. Used with Martin Logan, Monitor Audio, Spendor and Gradient loudspeakers. Directly compared to Pass, Rowland and Roksan amps.
Sneaky new internet tax pushing through fast
To all the people saying they pay too much in taxes, please outline what expenditures the federal government should eliminate, include actual dollar amounts, and provide a rough estimate of how much further your taxes would be reduced.
Magico Comparison
What I meant by my earlier comment is that this thread reads just like various Wilson loudspeaker threads. "Should I buy a used Alexandria I or a new Sasha?" Wilson owners then say all the Wilsons are fantastic, but different sounding and Wilson h...
