A newbie seeking advise on a projector get a used marantz vp12s2 or s3. I bought new 6 years ago and still love the pics. HD on 10 ft screen. Price for used unit very reasonable. Bulbs are pricey but most are
Stepup or phono preamp help Agree with the MM section as this was the original reason i purchased the Rotel. As I moved to MC i used Med output (frog and Airy3s) and the MC section has enough gain. It sounded pretty good to my ears but did not have a comparison until a frien...
DIY Record Cleaning Solution Cameronbs==Thanks for the comment. as you say, even steamers can deliver impurities if the initial water quality is bad. I work in a oil refinery(hence the handle) and see the insides of boilers that use ultra pure water because they make 1200 psi...
Felt Mats or ??? My table is the maplenoll ariadne which has a lead platter that is countersunk in the middle to account for the label thickness. Hence no pad is recommended as the clamp attempts to ensure solid contact of the lp to the platter. My platter does no...
MoFi enzyme based cleaner and pure rinse i would suggest adding steam cleaning as a step in the process. I have found that steam increases the effectiveness of any cleaning regiment. I utilize my own version of an enzyme agent and cleaners though i have used the mofi products also.
What is your cartridge and tracking force used ZYX universe 1.7; i have ventured lower but mistracking can be an issue. Followed DougDeacon technique for universe and believe it sounds better on my system at this vtf and optimized vta.
Steam Cleaning - RCM or not? There are a couple other strings on this forum related to steam cleaning particularly the first one that will outline several iterations and methods to steam clean. Suggest you look at those too.
I need an economical but good phono preamp? Rotel makes a entry level phono stage that should meet your requirements. It is not on par with the best but its performance is solid. It does not work well with the very lo output MC cartridges but .24 and higher works well. price is about 150 do...
Klipschorn speaker set-up I have used the false corners on two occasions when i had a room that was not suitable for corner placements. It works very well. I prefer the corner placements but mainly due to aesthetics.
Merrill tables I do not own or have ever owned a merrill but i did get to know george a little when i lived in memphis and did audition both of his new tables. They sound great in the showroom. i will only point out that the heirloom rarely comes up for sale use...
Why not use mains as centers I use a set of Klipsch KG5.5 as my rear LR and a single KG5.5 as my center with Khorns as my LR. the full range speaker works great but i have the room to do this in as my front projector screen sits in front of the center speaker.
what is the best sounding turntable for 3k used? not sure if its still out there, but there was a maplenoll ariadne available. It can be a little fussy but once set up, it will provide amazing performance for that price. I am biased however toward this table. The zyx cartridges match well with t...
Turntable selection advise you might want to check out audioasylum. They have a lot more vintage table strings than you will find here. There is a lot of folks on that forum that get a lot of enjoyment from the older and cheaper tables and a lot of fans for the moderate pri...
Premier Record Cleaner, How to use I strongly agree with the steaming and cleaning regime. I also have picked up many thrift deals that i use the steamer/cleaner wash to bring them to life. I have not used the walker regime yet but i have been pleased with the results I get. there ...
I'm taking a poll... I guess I am closer to "B" but in addition to vta, vtf is also important. Actually, i have gone through several iterations of vtf, vta and resetting overhang (i have a modded linear arm so its pretty easy) to reach my optimum for my cartridge. I w... |
