Upgrading the Source. Obviously I don't know what you have, but maybe get an effective rack for that new CDP. They are key players in the rhythm section.
Calling all indie rockers... I like Mayday a lot. I can't describe them without using the word "country", but I hate to come in at that angle. Its indie rock, dark, lower income class music with ahemm, country influence. Good songs.
Completely restructuring my modest system.. I'm all for separates, more than most people for sure, but with your budget, you'll most likely get better sound with an integrated amp. Maybe a tube one...ask Roy at Green Mountain about what he likes as a mate for speakers. He seems like a reall...
Upgrading the Source. Warrenh, I believe the Cary was among the some of the earlier generation of analogue-like CPDs, which rolled off the highs. My understanding is that the AA doesn't have that drawback. I bet its good, and I should note here that for a reason too co...
Upgrading the Source. Warrenh, his CDP is an NAD.Being your final CDP, I would consider those CDPs you can audition in your system and more importantly in a system that is more and quite revealing without a monetary penalty. The pain of the source-first approach is tha...
Quality: vinyl then versus vinyl now... I wouldn't break the bank on re-issues w/out specific knowledge of an improvement. God knows from were Music Direct, etc. obtain their source material on a per album basis. Sometimes good, sometimes less good. Some labels have a reputation of bett...
Jet...the new Ac/dc? They are riding what is, I hope, the tail end of a trite, gimmicky fad. I consider them to be replicas of replicas, not rock. Not to rain on the fun, that's just how I think of them.
Upgrading what? After looking at the threads you have already posed, I think you're ready to just pull the trigger. As long as your amp can drive your speakers, it doesn't matter so much in what order you throw your darts. Good luck
Referrence music.... I play one of my favorite songs, partly because I know it so well, partly because it contains a suitable gambit of sound quality "tells" and partly because I'm just excited to hear one of my favorite songs, but better. And then I play other songs ...
The Great Cryo'd Outlet Test Group think is pertinent, but would not be so much at play as already having publicly committed to a position. Most are a surprised at how malleable people's beliefs are, but public committal typically acts like glue.
The Stones, retire or re-invent themselves? As a fan of creativity, the Stones have expired. They have not pulled off anything outside their sweetspot in decades, so I'm hard pressed to believe some sort of radical revamp is going to be fraction of the caliber of the greatness of their best...
The Great Cryo'd Outlet Test Actually, sending two non-cryo'ds would be at least as educational, and of course very (nerd) funny. Good idea, PA.
Average Price Spent for Speakers Before I went audiophile, my speakers were $50. Since, its been $1000, $1700 and $350, not including the buy-then-return models. Within my cost ceiling, I bought the least expensive model that most satisfied me as far as sound quality and a host o...
Postal Money Order versus Bank Money Order ??? I have also come across those Postal MO requests from larger scale sellers. My guess is that the specific requests for Postal is a counterfeit and reliability issue. Bank M.O.s are more anonymous and the Postal system isn't going anywhere. I reall...
Nottingham Interspace I have never heard the Gyro, so I can't give you a convienent reference. I would say, though, that it is quite nice and a better value than Linns and Regas. I may be able to help you with specific questions about it. If you have any, email me. |
