Why Merlins sound better then Sonus Faber Well, Sonus Faber is the "...exclusive premium high-end audio system for the new Pagani Huayra"; and Merlin has two models that are sold direct.
Once again, impressed by NAD Not sure how the 314 compares to other NAD models. It is forward, open and bright sounding with great bass. The preamp section I think is its highlight and is a good value relative to other preamps I have owned that retailed for under $2k. I have ...
Sloped baffle I believe it. Hales uses fourth order crossover. It is of course not time coincident as one can see from the step response. You could speculate that part of the intent is to visually differentiate the transcendence from the revelation line, which ...
Sloped baffle I should have stated, "PART of the reason for a sloped baffle..." There is the time domain as well.
Sloped baffle Sometimes sloped baffles are cosmetic only. My understanding for 1st order crossover speakers is the broad frequency overlap between drivers, requires a sloped baffle to keep the drivers on a single axis. When off axis the shared frequencies betwe...
Room Treatment Idleally it best to know what the problem is before trying to correct it. You could do find modes based on your dimensions, which shows four coincident modes I believe at 141hz. More accurately, and relatively inexpensively you could do room acous...
Selling Dynaudio c2 what next??? The Bryston is certainly technically capable. I do not know it will sound, especially in comparision to more expensive, good-wattage tube amps, which are regularly employed it seems.
Selling Dynaudio c2 what next??? YG Carmel. Floorstanding two-way at $18k is imo a level up from Dynaudio, which I also really like. Good low end extension and I think it drops off smoother than the C1, even though its also ported. Very musical AND detailed. Gives everything but ...
HEADS UP Chicago based music lovers Thank you. I like Chicago and King Sound, so its a good contact for me.
$500-$1000 budget lots of questions please advise TAD's Andrew Jones designed a bookshelf and floorstander for Pioneer brand and Best Buy. I have not heard them , but they have gotten positive attention from audiophile-types. They are well under your budget.
$6000 budget question Interesting question as to what you can get now versus then for dollars spent. I have been looking a little for new speakers to replace my 15yo speakers which cost half as much as the F30s. Six grand will certainly not take you as close to the top...
Some Axpona thoughts The Essential Audio room was fantastic and a lot work to setup I am sure. With my budget, the more rough-around-the-edges King Sound ESL with Purity & Hegel was a big winner.Really liked the Y.F.S. with Endeavor room. Compelling offerings from...
most clear, crisp sound power amps, monoblocks ? When I think specifically of crisp and clear and not necessarily other "good" qualities of speakers and amps, I think of good electrostatics. The most capable I have heard for the cost is Sanders Sound. That's just my opinion.
Auto audio As a generalization, from my experience, I do not agree that auditioning gear on those boards is futile. Unlike home audio, car audio head unit differences are not really that sophisticated. They are largely a function of tonal balance. I think yo...
Jadem6 stumbled... but hasn't fallen. Yet. Wow, sorry this is the first time I have seen this post. I know your other posts though and am very glad you received a transplant and are recovering well. |
