What was your first music that you paid for?
I'm surprised so many people can remember. I think it may have been the Stones, Beggars Banquet. Other possibilities are Blind Faith, Hendrix's Are you Experienced, and Led Zeppelin II. Or maybe it was something else.
is this the best guitar ever
I recently found a near mint LP of this in a thrift. A very fine performance indeed. I am envious of the folks that got to see them in person.
What music do you want to play really loud?
King Crimson - The Power to Believe. I love it when they transition from very quiet passages to very loud.
Cars. What does the typical audiophile drive?
Toyota Sienna for work and (ride) a Moto Guzzi California on the weekends. My next work car will be a Passat GLX or similar car with a stick. The Guzzi I plan on leaving to my son after I'm so old I can't ride anymore. If money were no object, I'd ...
Underestimated, song, artist or group '' gems'' ?
James Lee Stanley for one. He's mostly known for being married to the person that writes the Kathy Comic strip, but he has written some great songs. There are many others; the Siegall-Schwall Band, Sumner, Blodwyn Pig, Spreadeagle, The Belltower......
need some suggestions for Acoustics Blues
Check out John Hammond. He is a true acoustic blues artist. Fantastic guitarist, great blues voice, and plays a pretty mean harp also. Lots to choose from but "Got Love If You Want It" is one of my favorites.
Favourite Guitar CDs
Carlos Santana & John McLaughlin - Love, Devotion, Surrender. Some fantastic guitar work both soft and hard.
Blues /rock: music recommendations?
You must get some early Fleetwood Mac. Anything with Peter Green who has been called the greatest white Blues guitarist. Peter can sing and play and its hard for me to think of a group that played together as well as the original Mac.For studio st...
old JBL studio monitors
I have 2 pair of JBL monitors. 4311's and L-100's. The 4311's came from a co-worker who bought them new and took very good care of them. The L-100's came from the Salvation Army for $40.00. They have had some cabinet work, but sonically were in gr...
Best drink while listening to your rig?
...bone dry, 3 olives, shaken, not stirred in a chilled glass
ultrasound cleaning?
You are correct in that no cavitation will occur without the U/S energy and no bubbles will be left behind to later implode. Once the power is turned off or the lp taken out, the vacuum dry should work just as well as if it were brushed.
ultrasound cleaning?
I agree with Mr. Kidnow in that I think an U/S could be made to work given the right setup, solution, and recipe.I just question the need. The goal is to clean inside the groove of the record and the brush with suitably sized bristle tips to get d...
Sell or keep my Turntable
If you're keeping the LP's, keep the TT. You will eventually want it, and finding a good TT for a reasonable price is difficult. I know this since I just bought one after looking for close to a year.If you're really sure you won't use it, P3's and...
ultrasound cleaning?
Since I sell ultrasonic and megasonic equipment for semiconductor manufacturing, I have considered trying to use one for LP cleaning. I have no doubt as to it's ability to perform the clean, but I have concerns about damage. I'm not saying it will...
