B&K amplifier Fans I owned M200 Sonatas also and they were great amps, they're one of those components I wish I didn't sell. I use a B&K ST 2140 for my second audio zone and it sounds great and has served me well. My father still gets a lot of enjoyment out of h...
Which is best amp, Mccormack 125, Belles 150 or I have a DNA 125 and it's the first amp I've ever owned that made me stop thinking about upgrading and I've owned quite a few, both tube and solid state. I liked it so much that I picked up a RLD-1 preamp a few weeks later. The 125 is smooth and m...
What is the best SS used amp for $1k or less? The McCormack RLD 1 is a great preamp that can be found for about $900-$1100 used. It has a HT bypass, excellent 120 step 0.5 dB volume and balance, tape mon., two sets of pre-outs, and is available with or w/o phono card. I love mine, it replaced...
Help with pre pro Proceed repair is an expensive flat rate affair should it ever need service. It's a nice sounding unit but it's dated.
Subwoofer Advice For Stereo Music System, Not HT Check out the REL T1 and R205, I have a R305 and like it a lot. While it doesn't have the output or go quite as low as my Velodyne HGS 10 it sounds much better with music and virtually disappears in my system. I almost bought a R205 but got such a...
preamp gain problem. I would first suspect that someone may have substituted the original tubes with "low noise" tubes, ie lower gain. There may also be jumpers within the pre that change the gain. Check with VTL, hopefully you can talk to a tech and not Luke Manley, ...
Do you leave your McCormack amps powered on 24/7? Most of the time, my RLD 1 pre has a standby feature so it and the source components get turned off when we leave the house.
Anyone try McCormack DNA + Placette Passive? The DNA 125 has an input sensitivity of 1.0v so it should work well with a passive provided you have a good source.

Easy to drive large speakers for Rock & Roll? I second the CF series by Klipsch, I had the CF 4s and they were ridiculous in both size and sheer output. 102 dB sensitivity. 2 12" poly-graphite drivers with horn in a D'appolito array. They sounded quite good in fact I kind of miss them. If you...
What other hobby or hobbies do you have? My son and I are big into radio controlled models. Personally I think it's the best father/son hobby around. We're also into 1:1 size cars as well.

11 Amps, 1 TV, 3 Components...1 Receptacle Help I would recommend hiring an electrician also, one who is experienced and knows your local codes. Wiring is not a hobby. I would also recommend a dedicated earth ground as ground loops are often caused by a difference in ground potential. |
