Sunfire Classic Tube Pre-Amp The Gold Lion 6922 is a great tube and is the only tube other than 6n23eb that has lasted more than a year in my c-j preamp..... sounds great and is quiet and rugged. They are not cheap but I think they are worth it.
Speaker Sensitivity AND Power Requirements It is a good question. I have a pair of 90 dB sen speakers in my workshop which is 16 × 20 and it plays to pretty decent volume with a 15 watt receiver but the system runs out of steam fast.
Synergy problem I just bought a pair of Heresys and they sound quite good. A lot of that I feel is due to how they interact with the room. I think they sound fantastic actually. I am driving them with a pair of EL34 mono amps and they are not one bit harsh....
"Best" mini-monitor? The Aerials are very nice. At twice the price the KEF Reference One is a reference among small speakers.
Are my " diamond " tweeters really diamond I tend to think diamonds would sound "hard".
Should I PURCHASE AN EXTERNAL DAC I have been using DACs since the early days of digital. Audio Alchemy, California Audio Labs, Theta, PS Audio, etc....I've had many, some great and some not so great. Most of the time it was a decent upgrade. And then DACs went out of fashio...
Velodyne DD-18 vs Martin Logan BF 12” A friend has a DD 18 and I think it's one of the best subs I have ever heard.
Dealers hijacking the discussions I should add that when a manufacturer posts, and it's someone like Ralph of Atmosphere it doesn't bother me at all... his posts are often technical in nature and it's clear to me that he is doing it with the best of intentions. Plus he is inform...
Filling speaker stands: sand, lead, steel, rice. Full, half, etc? Filled with sand, on spikes has always worked well for me.
Dealers hijacking the discussions It's wicked annoying..... I started a thread about a particular speaker i was interested in.... I was asking for fellow enthusiasts first hand experience, not for dealers to contact me offering the product, at the same price as it is never dis...
high-efficiency loudspeakers "Better" "Best" , all very subjective terms. I can say that for me, the Heresys, checked all the boxes . High sens. , dynamic, sealed box, compact, can be close to wall, low freq output does not over lap room mode..... easy to integrate wit...
Goldenear Reference Vs. Focal Sopra #2.....pocket the $5k difference and don't look back? Pete is a good guy, I’ve purchased a few items from those guys ... it’s a shame they are closing their brick and mortar. That certainly says says a lot about Golden Ears Tritons for you to take a leap of faith like that. Enjoy
high-efficiency loudspeakers I am driving my Heresys with a pair of 40 watt mono amps and it is more than enough power to play louder that you could endure for any length of time..... I don't really play it loud, but the dynamics and effortlessness to drive allow pretty much...
Throughly disappointed with my new Yamaha A-3000 Integrated....... I listened to that amp while I was auditioning speakers and it sounded really good. There is a value to dealing with a local dealer... it's good to hear they are stepping up to the plate .. Good luck with the replacement ...
high-efficiency loudspeakers The best is a question only you can answer after hearing several different speakers. I have owned a number of stand mount speakers that were fine, accurate , sounded just like the recording .... but that's the problem... they sounded like a rec... |
