Black sable tube how good? What makes them different ? Are they just cherry picked , matched triodes with top specs? Are they cryo? I think I would just trust a guy like Jim McShane or Brent Jesse if i'm going to spend 100 bucks on a 12ax7 or 6922 .....
Best used DAC for $250? Channel islands audio vda 2 is a great dac you can find around 250 if lucky
Best subwoofer below 40Hz for Magnepan .7? Also if you really like the Maggies, don't jump on the speaker merry go round trying to replace them , because if you like their sonic signature I think you"ll have to spend a lot more to better them.
Best subwoofer below 40Hz for Magnepan .7? I have no tone controls.... dont really need them . That is until I turn the sub on. I have a nasty room mode with a huge bump centered around 40 hz.... its bad. I could never get large floor standers to sound good in this room because of tha...
Best subwoofer below 40Hz for Magnepan .7? REL. Martin Logan. I have a 10” REL and it’s great even with speakers that are tough to integrate with a sub. I would recommend a 12” if you are looking for just the lowest octave. I also use a Velodyne SMS 1 EQ which I think is part of my success...
Tube match problems I had a VTL Stereo 50 and it has external bias points. The voltmeter's positive probe goes in the test point and the negative probe goes in the negative speaker binding post of the channel you are biasing.https://vtl.com/support/tube-biasing/
Apt-Holman pre-amp It was a great design in its day. I had one, I bought it used when i was 16. It was my first preamp and not a bad introduction to separates. Then I replaced it with a P.S. Audio 6.2 preamp which was a great preamp, and the first component I re...
Bookshelf speakers that sound good on a SHELF or SIDEBOARD I would recommend a front ported speaker.....or sealed acoustic suspension like Helo mentioned, but not many small speakers aren't ported.
Tube match problems You will still need to adjust bias. What matched quad speaks to is that they are identical in current draw and emmision. If if you have individual bias potentiometers for each tube it’s not necessary but I would still get matched tubes .
Dbx 20/20 Weird he would say that, I thought dbx was in Waltham MA in the 70s and then moved to Newton MA before they went under. I used to drive by there often.
PrimaLuna Dialogue Premium That's great you are getting so much enjoyment out of your new gear. I had my doubts about the brand not having seen them before and during the course of auditioning speakers I listened to their EL 34 integrated amp. It really sounded great. ...
very little power? Does your cable box have variable remote out? Is it wired via analog outs or digital? Connected to the 122 via the cable box or TV audio out? Some boxes or TV s have a variable digital Toslink jack which could be the problem .
Tube match problems Use a non ferrous pot adjustment tool for an extra measure of safety
Tube match problems Best tool ever......http://www.vhtamp.com/products/vht-accessories/tube-tester-2Worth every penny. You can plug a DVM in to verify the analog meters accuracy. Analog meters can be calibrated, mine were dead on from the factory though. You don'...
